August 2006
Block of the Month Congratulations to Margo McClary the winner of the BLOTTO block for June. She will plan the block for July/August has directions and background fabric available. Your cost to participate is $1 (correct amount, please). Return your completed square for the chance to win all of the squares and plan the block for the next month (with help if you wish).
Villages Quilting Guild: 7 p.m. August 1 at Laurel Manor. Cindy Blackberg will be the speaker. She is teaching "Vintage One Patch Scrap Quilting that day from 8:30 - 2:30. Contact the College for space available if you are interested.
Did you know that a class taken through the College is tax deductible? Next scheduled class is September 5. Jan Wildman will teach "GG's Flower Garden" Workshop. Cost is $25. She will also be the speaker at the evening Guild meeting. Contact the College if you are interested. (Paid Guild members pay the patron fee for quilting classes.)
August 8 and 22 - Sociable Stitching
The 2nd and 4th Wednesday afternoons at Laurel Manor from 1- 4 p.m.
The Villages Quilting Guild Quilt Show - Pictures of the two raffle quilts can be viewed by visiting (www.thevillagesquiltguild.org) for you to view or download. Tickets are available from Joy Lynch. The green tickets are for the Appliqué Quilt and white are for the pieced Quilt - six for $5.00 or $1.00 each. The tickets can be mixed i.e. three (3) white and three (3) green. When you have sold the tickets return the stubs and money to Joy.
The committee for the Quilt Show Silent Auction is looking for items that you think someone would like to bid on - quilts, wearables, home dec, etc.
September 22 - Jacksonville Quilt Show
A bus has been reserved for the Chatham Quilters to travel to the Jacksonville Quilt Show. The cost will be between $20-$30 each. Please let Joy Lynch (753-6545, lynch@thevillages.net) know if you are interested.
December 5 - Guild Luncheon - Laurel Manor

April 2007 - Retreat
Plans are underway for the Chatham Retreat and the planning committee would like to know your ideas on what you want to do (classes, games, ideas from other retreats you may have attended, etc.). Contact, Joy Lynch (753-6545, lynch@thevillages.net), Carolyn Girvin, or Kay Hasson.

"A Charmed Event" Shop Hop, August 11, 12 and 13 sponsored by six area quilt shops - A Quilter's Dream, Material Girl, Quilting Friends, Quilt Shop of Deland, Tomorrow's Treasures and Whippoorwill. Pre-register for $5 before the 11th. Register during the Shop Hop for $6. More info on the Guild web site.

Thanks to everyone who helped with the stockings for the Shoeboxers on Tuesday, July 25 and to all of you who have taken some home to sew.
Ilga is still looking for a volunteer to chair our Charity Quilts. Ilga (IMPIVETZ @aol.com) asap.
Congratulations
MaryAlice Schuler entered her FANtastic jacket in the Wisconsin State Fair in the quilted garment category. She received a 3rd place.
