Chatham Quilters

Chatham Quilters
June 2006

The program committee has decided against having workshops during the summer months, since our snowbird friends are gone and many of us will be doing traveling during the summer months. Programs will resume in the fall.

Thanks to everyone's hard work, the favors for the quilt show have been completed. Now all we need are pins - 7,000 of them! If you have any extra straight pins, please give them to Carolyn Girvin.

We need a volunteer to take over the Charity Quilts. Due to lack of storage space, we will be making the quilts on an as-needed basis.

A reminder: We are making a gift basket for Doris Woodward, with the hope that it will bring her a few moments of joy during this difficult time. On Tuesday, June 6th, Jackie Whitehead will be collecting fat quarters, charms, buttons, decorative threads, or any other item you'd like to contribute.

On June 27th we are planning a salad & dessert luncheon. We will update you with details at our weekly meeting.

Congratulations to Joy Lynch, the winner of the May "Hunter's Star" BLOTTO! Since she's on vacation for the next few weeks, Ilga will plan the block for June. Directions and background fabric will be available June 6th. Your cost to participate is $1 (correct amount, please). Return your completed square no later than June 27th for the chance to win all of the squares and plan the block for the next month.

Please let Ilga know ASAP if you plan on entering a quilt for the show, or will be participating in the challenge quilt. She has application forms, or you can get the form at www.thevillagesquiltguild.org. Deadline for submission is October 1.

Ladies that participated in the 9-patch exchange project - if you have leftover 9 patches that you have no use for, please see Martha King. She has expressed an interest in them.

Welcome new members Donna Labbe, Martha Fernez, and Colette Dix.

The June 6th evening guild meeting will be at Laurel Manor - the program will be first quilt/latest quilt. The July 4th evening meeting will be at Chatham - the program will be new/favorite quilting-related things/gadgets.
