Chatham Quilters – May 2008

Congratulations to Eileen Powers for winning the April blotto.  We will be suspending the blotto until fall, due to the low attendance during the summer months.

At our May 13th meeting, President Kay discussed allowing the 6 people on our waiting list to become members, thereby bringing our membership to 91.  We would then close the membership, and no longer have a waiting list.  A motion was made by Alice Bessler; seconded by Joy Lynch; approved by the majority present.

We need a volunteer to serve on the Guild’s Christmas Party committee.  If you are interested in volunteering, let us know before the end of June.

Currently we do not have a bus trip scheduled for the Jacksonville Quilt Show.

I’d like to encourage you to take a look at the Guild’s website, if you haven’t already done so.  You will find info about the quilt show, our current and past newsletters, show & tell photos and retreat photos, and many other items of interest.  Check it out at:

     www.QuiltingGuildOfTheVillages.org    or   www.QGOTV.org

UFO Challenge Participants:  June 10th is the due date for item #4 on your list.

Evening Guild Meeting:  The next evening guild meeting will be on June 3rd at 7:00 at Laurel Manor.  Guest speaker will be Sunnie Malesky.

2009 Quilt Show:

* Dates for the quilt show are January 30-31.

* Boutique – we need a volunteer to handle the distribution of the price tags and to maintain a list of members that will be selling items at the boutique.

* Challenge quilt entries do not require a photo.

Sunshine Quilts:  Last month we donated 19 quilts to the Guardian Ad Litem program, and 23 quilts to the Wounded Marines.  Great job, ladies!

Secret Sisters:  Bring your items on May 20th “hidden” in a Wal-Mart bag (so your secret sister can’t identify you as you come into the building).
