The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The
Villages was held February 1, 2011.
The meeting was called to order by President Jeannette Flint at
7:00 pm. The pledge of allegiance was recited by the members.
Jeannette thanked the three quilt showcase co-chairs,
chapter chairmen and all members for the very successful quilt show.
She noted that the boutique was superb this year and the extra room
allocated to the boutique contributed to that success.
Jackie Whitehead announced three quilts with no name
and no identifying tags were left at the end of the boutique and she asked
for help identifying the owners.
The secretary’s report for January was read and
Tonia Brock moved to accept the report with Rose Luehrsen seconding the
motion.
Beth Bender gave the treasurer’s report with
beginning and ending balances for January.
Beth also gave a preliminary report of income for the quilt show.
There were slightly under 4,000 individuals who paid to attend the
show. Beth thanked all who helped out in the ‘green room’ with
handling the money. A motion
to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Regina Wolf and seconded by
Lucie Verbois.
The Piecemakers chapter is sponsoring a bus trip to
The Quilter’s Place in Rockledge on February 15th.
Cost is $16.00 and there are 20 seats available.

Laura’s travel service is sponsoring a trip to
Rockledge on February 23rd and to Dunedin on February 25th.

Micki MacCumbee gave the vice-president’s report.

Members should price items and bring change as each
member will be responsible for their own items.
Tables will be set up by chapter for those interested in selling.

June - Joy Dudis home decorating talk and her
grandmother’s quilts (host Allamanda)

Micki MacCumbee also announced changes to the class
schedules and location. All
classes will now be held at the new Villages/Sumter County Services
Complex and Library on 466A.

David Taylor’s It’s Pointless Applique – Same
day Tuesday April 5th but at the new library location.
These classes are currently full but the committee
will keep a waiting list. Members
were reminded that they must pay for a class to be a confirmed
participant.
Sign-up sheets were available for two new classes.

Showcase winners in attendance were called up to the
stage to present their winning quilts.
There were 230 entries in the showcase and 63 ribbons were awarded.
Door prizes were awarded and there were six $10
winners in the 50/50.
The meeting concluded with a video presentation of
the quilts from this year’s show.

The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The
Villages was held January 4, 2011. The
meeting was called to order by Vice President Micki MacCumbee at 7:00 pm.
The pledge of allegiance was recited by all members.
Vice President McCumbee reported that our President,
Jeannette Flint is still in the hospital but doing better and looking
forward to being back with the group.
There were no secretary’s minutes as last month’s
meeting was our Christmas Party.
Beth Bender gave the treasurer’s report including
November and December checkbook balances.
There are still three chapters that need to report their charitable
donations for 2010. A motion
was made by Joe Comer to accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by
Doris Woodward and passed.
Quilt Show co-chair Kathy Howe reported all is going
well with preparations for the show and she thanked everyone who has
helped to date.
Micki McCumbee gave the vice-president’s and
program chair reports. The
program committee met 12/28/2010 and the members are looking forward to
working together this year. They
are requesting members give program suggestions to their chapter chairs.
The chapter chairs will be surveying their members on preference
time and frequency for guild meetings.
The survey results should be complete by the January 25th
committee meeting.
Class lists were available at tables in the back of
the room for classes through April along with samples of the projects.
Flyers were also available for the Lakeland FL Sewing & Quilt
Expo and Yely’s Floriani Event.

The speaker of the evening was Leigh McDonald, fiber
artist and quilting instructor. Leigh
spoke about the process of writing her book ‘Adventures In Quilting’
and her inspiration for her quilts. She
showed some of her unique quilts.
There were 4 members who participated in Show and
Tell.
There were nine name tag winners and eight members
shared $72.00 from the 50/50.
