QUILTING B's CHAPTER NEWS:  OCTOBER 2011
The B's and the Piecemakers hosted Chatham chapter for a brunch on September 20.  The event was held in the Charlie Chaplin room at Paradise.   The room was full of happy quilters sharing their show-n-tell projects, sharing chapter ideas, and renewing acquaintances.  Quilts and food; what more could we ask for?

Ida Hoover did a demonstration of the Disappearing 4-Patch, a technique that starts with a four-patch square which is cut four times and the larger pieces rotated to create a nine-patch block.  Directions can be found at:  http://nonniequiltingdreams.wordpress.com/2011/06/01/disappearing-four-patch-block/

Beth Bender did a demonstration of the Tube Quilt, a technique that uses two strips cut at 2 ½", sewn together lengthwise, then sewn on both sides to a 4 ½" strip.  This strip is then cut at 45 degrees to create triangles.  The triangles, when opened, are half-square triangle blocks.  A great tutorial can be found at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOWSp0mTTqE

The B's had two surprise guests at their October 18 meeting.  Sandy DeVries and Yvonne Butler brought Witch Hazel and Hazel Quackenbush.  Due to technical problems, we only have a picture of Witch Hazel.

Ellen Koenig from Seabreeze joined us October 25 and demonstrated her fabric basket techniques.  She showed how to use clothesline and ¾" strips of fabric to make wonderful baskets on the sewing machine.
