MULBERRY CHAPTER MINUTES:  APRIL 26, 2011
1)    President Lucie Verbois acknowledged all April birthdays.  Refreshments were served and the meeting was called to order at 9:25.  Lucie led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2)    The secretary's report was read. A motion was made by Bobbie Welter and seconded by Joan Henry to accept the minutes as read. The motion was passed.  The treasurer's report was read.  A motion was made by Joan Henry and seconded by Lynn Heipershausen to accept the report as read.  The motion was passed.

3)    Program report:
    a)    May 3rd -  a paint stick demo by Dale Angione
    b)    May 10th and 17th  - Charity quilts
    c)    May 31st we will be hosting Sunset Pointe.  Quilter's Dream will be here to give a trunk show. Ann Moroz will chair the refreshment committee.
    d)    June 7th - Quilted Tote Bag - Denise Lasley
    e)    June 14th - Security Lecture - Joe Pine
    f)    June 21st - Flag quilt - Joan Henry
    g)    June 29th - UFO Show and Tell
    h)    Classes are $10.00 and each teacher will handle her own class sign ups.
    i)    After a discussion, a motion was made by Carol Knoll that all demos (not classes) will be available to all members and that the teacher will be paid $15.00. It was seconded by Carol LaFleur.  The motion was passed.

4)    Executive Board:
    a)    Tonia reported that the guild has 614 members
    b)    The quilted golf cart cover is still unaccounted for.
    c)    A membership chairperson is needed for the guild.
    d)    The website - www.qgotv.org is up and running. 
    e)    It was suggested that the chapters review their by-laws.
    f)    It was decided that teachers that are guild members will be paid $100.00 and will also keep 75% over a $100.00 that is collected by them for each class.
    g)    The minutes and financial report will be posted on the bulletin board and is on the website.

5)    Guild Programs:
    a)    May 3rd - Lisa Marie Sanders - Quilting with Aliens

6)    Guild Classes:
    a)    All guild classes will now be held at the new Sumter County Library on Rt. 466A. You may sign up at a guild meeting with each individual teacher by check. The cost is $10.00.
    b)    May 19th (Thurs.) - Dale Angione - Twisted Bargello.
    c)    July 20th  (Wed.) -  Dale Angione - Stack N Whack
    d)    July 28th  (Thurs.) - Jackie Whitehead - needle turn appliqué
    e)    Aug. 17th  (Wed.) - Dale Angione - Pacific Rim two tone appliqué

7)    Refreshments:
    a)    Madaline thanked everyone for the refreshments that were brought in today.  She still has openings in the fall.

8)    Chapter Retreat:
    a)    Mary Ann reported next year's retreat will be from Feb. 7th to the 9th  at the Life Enrichment Center in Fruitland Park.  The cost will be $140.00 and she will be accepting deposits of $40. at the next meeting. The final payment will be due in November. 20 people have signed up and the cut off will be 25.  There is no special class scheduled as of yet.       
9)    Charity Quilts:
    a)    Bobbie reported that she has 67 quilts and we will be distributing some of the quilts to Haven House at the May 24th meeting.
    b)    There is batting and fabric in the back.

10)    Blotto:
    a)    The three drawings for the paper pieced blotto were won by Diane Robbins, Donna Blodgett and Tonia Brock.

11)    Library:
    a)    Barbara asked that if you take a book out of the library, please do not pass it around but bring it back so she can record who takes the book next.
    b)    She has 266 books listed in the library.

12)    The fat quarter drawings were won by Sue Huber, Lois Carder, Diane Robbins and Robyn Patterson. Next month's fat quarter will be a FLORAL print.

13)    New Business:
    a)    Freedom Pointe has invited us to a decorated chef jacket showing and light hors d'hoeuvres on Thursday, May 5th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.  There is no charge but Lucie needs a count of how many will attend.
    b)    Next month's blotto was presented by Ann Moroz  - A nine patch square.
    c)    The gift basket was won by Marge Jensen.
    d)    Show and Tell featured beautiful quilts, wall hangings, purses and other items made by our members.

14)    Meeting was adjourned at 10:20.
