MULBERRY CHAPTER MINUTES:  JULY 26, 2011
1)    Vice President Mary Ann Pankowski acknowledged all July birthdays.  Refreshments were served and the meeting was called to order at 9:20.  Mary Ann led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2)    The secretary's report was read. A motion was made by Lynn Heipershausen and seconded by Donna Blodgett to accept the minutes as read. The motion was passed.  The treasurer's report was read.  A motion was made by Gae Nocella and seconded by Bobbie Welter to accept the report as read.  The motion was passed.

3)    Executive Board:
    a)    The secretary's minutes are on the website.
    b)    Tonia reported that the guild has 632 members.
    c)    August 14th - McCall's Tavern is having an Art Show.  If anyone is interested, please call Jeanette Flint 750-3055.
    d)    She needs to bring two names of people who are interested in being on the nominating committee for the Guild.  The two offices that are up for election are the president and treasurer. Carolyn Heald volunteered.
    e)    There are already 10 people who are interested in having a chapter at the new Sterling Heights Rec. Center.
    f)    The 2012 dues for the guild will be $ 5.00.  The raffle tickets for the donation quilt will not be part of the dues.  Each chapter will be given tickets to sell.

4)    Showcase of  Quilts 2013 and Marketplace 2012:
    a)    Ann said everything for the showcase is on track.  Committee meetings will begin in September.
    b)    She already has 22 booths reserved and sold ads totaling $600.00 for the Marketplace which will take place Jan. 21 - 22, 2012.

5)    Chapter Retreat:
    a)    The final payment is due in November.

6)    Fall Retreat:
    a)    Carolyn reported that she has 25 people signed up and there are 9 openings.  It is on Oct. 12 - 14th @ Lake Yale.   

7)    Blotto:
    a)    Marian Burke won the 18 blocks.

8)    Program report:
    a)    August 9th and 16th - Charity quilts. Angel Flight and Hands of Mercy will be here on 8/16.  If you have any stuffed animals to donate, please bring them on the 16th for Angel Flight.
    b)    August 30th - Shop Hop.
    c)    Sept. 13 - Marie from Material Girl will give a demo.

9)    Guild Programs:
    a)    Aug 2nd - Whippoorwill Quilt Station - Christmas fabric, patterns, demos, gifts ideas and a Christmas Show and Tell
    b)    Sept. 6th - Stitching My Memories Trunk Show

10)    Guild Classes:
    a)    All guild classes will now be held at the new Sumter County Library on Rt. 466A.
    b)    July 28th   - Jackie Whitehead - needle turn appliqué
    c)    Sept. 7th - Working with Texture Magic - Patricia Ferguson
    d)    Sept. 15th  - Mary Shara - machine appliqué.
    e)    Oct. 5th - Effect of light on quilts - Marianne Williamson
    f)    Oct. 26th - Perfect Paper Piecing - Dale Angione
    g)    Nov. 3rd - Celtic Knot - Dale Angione
    h)    Nov. 30th - Little Something Jacket - Dale Angione

11)    Library:
    a)    Barbara now has all the books on the website.  Only the templates and patterns are not listed.
    b)    She said highlighting the Christmas books was a success so if anyone has another theme they would like addressed to let her know.
    c)    The next library day, she will highlight  4 books that have the best quilts of the year and a book on historical quilts.

12)    The fat quarter drawings were won by Lois Carder, Barbara Morse, Betty Millard and Tonia Brock. Next month's fat quarter will be a TROPICAL print.

13)    Shop Hop:  Robyn gave the itinerary for August 30th:
    a)    8:30 am    Leave Mulberry Rec Center
    b)    10:00am    Arrive Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop in Trenton (10% discount if you do not use their punch card)
    c)    Lunch is on your own.  Suwannee Valley has a café inside the quilt shop.
    d)    12:30 pm    Leave Suwannee Valley Quilt Shop
    e)    1:30 pm    Arrive Fabric Art Shop in Lake City (10% discount on books and fabric & demo)
    f)    3:00 pm    Leave Fabric Art Shop
    g)    3:15 pm    Arrive Amygene's Quilt Shop in Lake City (10% discount and refreshments).
    h)    4:00 pm    Leave Amygene's Quilt Shop
    i)    5:30 pm    Arrive back at Mulberry Rec. Center
    j)    The cost is $22.00 and the bus will hold 36 people.

14)    New Business:
    a)    Next month's blotto will be a paper doll.  Lois will have the pattern available next week.
    b)    The gift basket was won by Lois Carder.
    c)    Show and Tell featured beautiful quilts, table runners, place mats and other items made by our members.

15)    Meeting was adjourned at 10:00.
