MULBERRY CHAPTER MINUTES:  OCTOBER 25, 2011
1)    President Lucie Verbois acknowledged all guests, new members and October birthdays.  Refreshments were served and the meeting was called to order at 9:25.  Lucie led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2)    The secretary's report was read. A motion was made by Joan Henry and seconded by Louise Mediate to accept the minutes as read. The motion was passed.  The treasurer's report was read.  A motion was made by Robyn Patterson and seconded by Marilyn Tafro to accept the report as read.  The motion was passed.

3)    Executive Board:
    a)    The board asked if you are going to take the March "Quilt as you Go" class to please register as soon as possible.  They need to know if there is any interest or else it will be cancelled.

4)    Marketplace 2012 (One Stop Shop Hop):
    a)    Help will be needed on Saturday morning to help set up in the theatre room. Spouses will be welcome.  Please let Dale know if you are available to help.

5)    Showcase of  Quilts
    a)    Ann said everything for the showcase is on track and the next meeting for committees will be in January. 
    b)    Banner:
        i)    Gail is looking for volunteers to help with the creation of the banner.
        ii)    The topiary tree was voted on as the design to use.
    c)    Ribbons:  Dale is looking for machine embroidery volunteers to help with the ribbons.

6)    Chapter Retreat:
    a)    Final payment is due by Nov 1st.  There are 28 people attending.
    b)    If anyone has any suggestions for a different retreat location, please see Mary  Ann.

7)    Blotto:
    a)    The 23 birdhouse blocks were won by Ann Moroz.

8)    Chapter Program report:
    a)    We will have another round robin in November.  If anyone is interested in giving a demo, please see Mary Ann.
    b)    Our installation of officers and Christmas party will be held on Dec. 13th.

9)    Guild Programs:
    a)    Nov. 1st - Eric Drexler - Sulky Thread - "Thread Jazz for Quilting and Embellishing" - needle and thread know how.
    b)    Dec. 6th - Christmas Party - Teddy Pruitt will speak on wild and wacky quilts and recyclables.  Please bring an appetizer or dessert to serve 6 - 8 people.
    c)    Dec. 10th - Christmas parade.  They are still looking for golf carts to participate in the parade.
    d)    Jan. 3rd - Ken & Connie Gleason - The story of quilting through the Civil War.

10)    Guild Classes:
    a)    All guild classes will now be held at the new Sumter County Library on Rt. 466A.
    b)    Nov. 9th - Celtic Knot - Dale Angione
    c)    Nov. 30th - Little Something Jacket - Dale Angione
    d)   Jan. 10th - Two color appliqué -  Dale Angione
    e)    Jan 23rd - Fabric Collage Jewelry - Debbie Jones - $12. fee and $25. kit.
    f)    Feb. 8th - Machine Trapunto for the timid quilter - Mark Sherman - $10. fee and $ 40 kit.
    g)    Mar. 5th or 6th - Quilt as you Go workshops - Marie Anderson of Material Girl Quilt Shop - $25.
    h)    Apr 4th - Instant Art Quilt - Ellen Lindner - $25.
    i)    Flyers are on our bulletin board.  To sign up for a "visiting teacher's" class, either see Marge Jensen or sign up at the guild meeting.  If the teacher is from our guild, you may sign up with the individual teacher at the guild meeting.

11)    Library:
    a)      Barbara usually has her computer with her at every meeting so please see her if you need something specific.

12)    The fat quarter drawings were won by Peach Poulin, Gae Nocella, Louise Mediate and Brooke Black. Next month's fat quarter will be a NOVELTY PRINT.

13)    Charity Quilts:
    a)    Bobbie said that the last of the quilts will be presented to Hands of Mercy and Hospice on Nov. 29th.  Please have your quilts to her by Nov. 22nd.

14)    Membership:
    a)    $ 15.00 dues (of which $ 5.00 goes to the guild) are due before the end of the year.

15)    Refreshments:
    a)    Madaline thanked everyone for a great year.  There was a round of applause for their work on the table decorations.

16)    Chapter Christmas Party:
    a)    Diane asked that you sign up if you are coming to the party on Dec. 13th.   There will be a $ 10.00 gift exchange at the party.  The gift does not have to be quilt related.

17)    Christmas Charity:
    a)    Char gave a presentation on the "All One Family" charity.  It was decided by a vote to have them as our Christmas charity.

18)    New Business:
    a)    The nominating committee presented the slate of nominees for next year:
        i)    President - Carolyn Heald; Vice President - Tonia Brock; Secretary - Donna Blodgett and Treasurer - Carol Knoll.
        ii)    We will vote at the November business meeting.
    b)    Denise Lasley presented next month's blotto:  It is a Christmas themed snow globe.  The stand and background fabric will be provided. 
    c)    The gift basket was won by Char Hack.  
    d)    Show and Tell featured beautiful and fantastic items made by our members.

19)    Meeting was adjourned at 10:15.
