MULBERRY CHAPTER MINUTES:  NOVEMBER 22, 2011
1)    President Lucie Verbois acknowledged all guests and November birthdays.  Refreshments were served and the meeting was called to order at 9:20.  Lucie led the membership in the Pledge of Allegiance.

2)    The secretary's report was read. A motion was made by Lynn Heipershausen and seconded by Joan Henry to accept the minutes as read. The motion was passed.  The treasurer's report was read.  A motion was made by Lynn Heipershausen and seconded by Robyn Patterson to accept the report as read.  The motion was passed.

3)    Executive Board:
    a)    Tonia reported that the guild now has 694 paid members.
    b)    A list of all charity work for 2011 should be emailed to Beth Bender
    c)    The programs for 2012 are on our bulletin board.
    d)    Mulberry will be hosting the June guild meeting.
    e)    The list of new officers should be sent to the webmaster and Alice Nicholas (2012/2013 President).
    f)    A suggestion was made that chapters should adopt sister chapters to promote camaraderie.  After a short discussion, it was decided that Sunset Pointe will be our sister chapter.
    g)    There is a draft of the updated Standing Rules on the guild website.

4)    Showcase of  Quilts
    a)    Ann said everything for the showcase is on track and the next meeting for committees will be in January @ 6 pm before the guild meeting. 
    b)    Banner:
        i)    Gail, Carol and Rose will meet after the 1st of the year to work on the design.  Then we will all work on different pieces of the banner.
    c)    Ribbons:  Patty, Doris and Donna are working on the embroidery.

5)    Chapter Retreat:
    a)    The retreat is filled.

6)    Blotto:
    a)    There were two winners of the Christmas globe blotto:  Ginger Cullen and Lucie Verbois.

7)    Chapter Program report:
    a)    Our installation of officers and Christmas party will be held on Dec. 13th.

8)    Guild Programs:
    a)    Dec. 6th - Christmas Party - Teddy Pruitt will speak on wild and wacky quilts and recyclables.  Please bring an appetizer or dessert to serve 6 - 8 people.
    b)    Dec. 10th - Christmas parade.
    c)    Jan. 3rd - Ken & Connie Gleason - The story of quilting through the Civil War.
    d)    Denise Lasley will be our new program rep.

9)    Guild Classes:
    a)    All guild classes will now be held at the new Sumter County Library on Rt. 466A.
    b)    Jan 23rd - Fabric Collage Jewelry - Debbie Jones - $12. fee and $25. kit.
    c)    Feb. 7th and 8th - Machine Trapunto for the timid quilter - Mark Sherman - $10. fee and $ 40 kit.
    d)    Mar. 5th or 6th - Quilt as you Go workshops - Marie Anderson of Material Girl Quilt Shop - $25.
    e)    Apr 4th - Instant Art Quilt - Ellen Lindner - $25.
    f)    Flyers are on our bulletin board.  To sign up for a "visiting teacher's" class, either see Marge Jensen or sign up at the guild meeting.  If the teacher is from our guild, you may sign up with the individual teacher at the guild meeting.

10)    The fat quarter drawings were won by Dianne Cook, Julia Galusha, Addie Tavares, Lois Carder and Mary Ann Pankowski.  Next month's fat quarter design will be STRIPES.

11)    Charity Quilts:
    a)    The last of the quilts will be presented to Hands of Mercy and Central Healthy Start on Nov. 29th. 

12)    Refreshments:
    a)    Madaline thanked everyone for all their hard work.

13)    Chapter Christmas Party:
    a)    Diane announced that the party will be in the room next door on Dec. 13th from 9:30 to 12:30.  There will be a $10.00 gift exchange (new items, please).

14)    Christmas Charity:
    a)    Char reported that the shopping is going well.  We will give $200.00 in food gift cards and $300.00 in gifts.

15)    New Business:
    a)    Election of Officers - Gail Richards made a motion to accept the slate of officers as presented by the nominating committee.  Ann Moroz seconded and the motion was passed. The officers are:
        i)    President - Carolyn Heald; Vice President - Tonia Brock; Secretary - Donna Blodgett and Treasurer - Carol Knoll.
    b)    The December business meeting will be on Dec 20th.
    c)    The gift basket was won by Lorraine Pontillo.
    d)    Show and Tell featured beautiful and fantastic items made by our members.

16)    Meeting was adjourned at 9:58.
