What a great night ... Marianne Williamson's trunk show was wonderful.  Like any artist should, she has a passion for her work and it shows. We all appreciated the easy manner in which Marianne shared her knowledge, as well as the techniques she's developed over the years to create these wonderful art quilts.  Beautiful from a distance, her unique style is even more fascinating when you get a chance to see it up close (and yes, even to touch it!).  She was more than generous with her common sense approach to painting, stenciling and stitching.  Absolutely liberating!  [Some class photos are included this month, following Guild member Show-n-Tell photos]

Later we talked about water
Since your Webmaster took her first-ever quilting class beyond the "This is a rotary cutter.  Be careful, that's very sharp!" level, I thought I'd share some of the class photos.  Everyone had a great time, even those who could never squiggle black paint onto a quilt top, much less add water to smush it around J   The ragged-edge applique, free-motion quilting style creates wonderful images from photos; especially when you learn how to add stenciling and paint and ... well, the world is a big place and your imagination is your only limit.  We learned the beauty of not trying to create a quilt to replicate a photo, but rather to have the photo be the stepping stone toward an impressionist piece of fabric art, ala Claude Monet

Please let me know if you enjoyed this new feature.  Maybe we can work to make this a regular add-on for Guild Meeting Show-n-Tell to better share our newly gained skills and knowledge ... Webmaster@QGOTV.org
