Quilting Guild of The Villages June 2011 Executive Board Minutes
The Board of The Quilting Guild of The Villages met June 21, 2011. The meeting was called to order by President Jeannette Flint at 3:03 pm.
Beth Bender read the treasurer's report and there was a discussion about the number of paid members. Membership chair Joy Lynch asked for an update from each chapter president so that the number of paid members can be reconciled with the number of members in each chapter roster. Membership cards will be given to each chapter president once each roster is confirmed.
The secretary's report was read by Dale Angione. The report was accepted by the membership.
Micki Maccumbee, the program chair and vice president enumerated the classes and activities that are coming up:
July - ice cream social - no cost to the members
August - Whippoorwill Station will present a program showing new patterns, tools and a make and take.
September - Stitching My Memories will present the program for the guild and also have a class using texture magic to make a table runner. We need more people to sign up for the class so that it won't be canceled.
The program committee will be meeting next Tuesday, July 28th, and they are working on compiling a history of the Guild. Ida Hoover, a charter member, and Jan Watkins are helping with this project. Micki also thanked the members for the support they have shown at the Guild meetings.
Carole Schroeder, Quilt Show 2013 co-chair, asked for volunteers for the 2015 show. They would be starting next year and shadow the current leaders.
Ann Moroz, Quilt Show 2013 co-chair presented a proposal for a Vendor Showcase to run in the alternate years between the Quilt Show. She has agreed to chair this Vendor Showcase 2012 and Marilyn Paluszak proposed a motion to take the proposal back to the individual chapters and then notify Ann about the interest exhibited by their chapter. The motion was seconded by Joyce Doig and carried by the board.
Regina Wolfe proposed a motion to allow Ann Moroz to reserve space for the Vender Showcase 2012 pending the decision by the chapters. The motion was seconded by Ruth Chary and approved by the board.
After much discussion it was decided that the proposed changes to the By Laws will be discussed in each chapter and then will come up for a vote at the August Guild meeting.
Alice Nicholas, donation quilt chair, distributed kits to each chapter president. The kit contained instructions and a contact person for each set of blocks assigned to the chapter. The deadline for completion is the October Guild meeting. The pattern will be presented in December and the quilt will be displayed at the guild meeting in February.
Jeanette will need a nominating committee in September. Please ask for volunteers.
McCall's Tavern in Spanish Springs will be holding an art session and they have asked the quilters to participate. They will need several participants for July 24th. A motion was made by Ruth Chary and seconded by Alice Nicholas. The motion to participate in this event was voted on by the board and carried. Anyone interested in helping with this event please call Jeanette at 750-3055.
The meeting ended at 4:40 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Dale Angione, Acting Secretary
