Quilting Guild of The Villages September 20, 2011 Executive Board Minutes
The Board of The Quilting Guild of The Villages met September 20, 2011. The meeting was called to order by Vice-President Micki MacCumbee at 3:00 pm.
Judy Short, president of our newest chapter, Sterling Stitchers, and liaison member Donna Tyndall were introduced.
The secretary's report was read. It was noted a discussion on the timing of sales at guild meetings took place at the August meeting but no decision made or vote taken. Marilyn Crosby moved to accept the minutes as amended seconded by Donna Kudner.
Beth Bender gave the treasurer's report and distributed the budget and membership count by chapter. There are 649 guild members not including 35 new members of Sterling Stitchers.
Ann Moroz reported on the Vendor Marketplace 2012. There are 49 booths rented with only 1 remaining booth to rent. Lucie Verbois, chair of volunteers for the marketplace, distributed the assignment list for the chapters. Lucie needs one contact name from each chapter who will coordinate that chapter's volunteers.
Carol Schroeder reported the first meeting of the Quilt Showcase 2013 committees will be October 4th at 6pm at Laurel Manor.
Micki MacCumbee reported on programs. Dale Angione's October 26th paper piecing class has been moved to October 28th. Dale has added a January 10th two-color appliqué class. Marianne Williamson will present at our October guild meeting and her topic will be adding light to your quilts. The next meeting of the Program Committee will be Tuesday, September 27th at 3 pm at Laurel Manor.
Alice Nichols thanked those chapters who have turned in their completed blocks for the donation quilt. Blocks from Chatham and Lake Miona are still due.
There was discussion on how to move the monthly guild meeting along so there is sufficient time for Show and Tell as well as how to better control Show and Tell. The program committee will have a board at each meeting listing the upcoming programs. This information is also available on the guild website. The hosting group should ensure each show and tell participant fully and legibly completes the form and carries their assigned number off the stage to meet the photographer.
Mary Shara reported for the nominating committee. Alice Nichols is a candidate for president and Lucie Verbois has agreed to be a candidate for Treasurer.
It was noted that the guild is in compliance with the Villages Recreation Department guidelines regarding our group's presenters selling their wares. Guidelines were outlined in a note from Pam Henry, Recreation Manager.
Mary Shara showed a beautiful quilt donated by Ida Hoover from Piecemakers which will be given to the Guardian Ad Litem program for their fundraiser January 20, 2012.
The meeting was adjourned at 4 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary
