The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held August 2, 2011.
The monthly meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was called to order by President Jeanette Flint at 7:00 p.m. on August 2, 2011 at Laurel Manor. The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Dale Angione read the Secretary's report. A motion to approve the report was proposed by Joe Comer and seconded by Patti Rizzo
The Treasurer's report was read by Beth Bender and filed for review. We now have 635 paid members.
Joy Lynch moved to accept the Bylaws as amended, seconded by Wanda Marsh and the motion was carried. The newly adopted Bylaws are online at Bylaws 2011.
Jeanette reminded the membership about the show at McCall's on August 14th from 12 to 4 with the setup time of 10 AM. She also requested two names from each chapter to be given to her at the next board meeting for the nominating committee.
Lucie Verbois announced that Mulberry is sponsoring a bus trip to the quilt shops in Lake City and Trenton on August 30th at a cost of $22. Please see Lucie if you are interested.
Vice-President Micki MacCumbee reviewed the following upcoming guild programs:
September - Stitching My Memories
A talk about threads by the president of superior threads and a trunk
Show. The workshop will feature a table runner.
October - Marianne Williamson - Fiber Art and Light
When you finish the class you will have an art quilt.
December - Teddy Pruitt will be the guest speaker at our holiday party and the topic
Will be "Other Peoples Fleas."
The golf cart parade this December can be an opportunity for publicity for the Vendor Showcase. If you are interested in participating please let your program representative know.
Allamanda is sponsoring a machine quilting class by Judy Hansen of the Deland Quilt Shop on September 28th. If you are interested please see a representative from Allamanda.
Alice Nicholas of SeaBreeze has announced that several chapters have already turned in their blocks for the donation quilt and they have started to assemble the quilt. As soon as your chapter has finished their blocks please hand them in.
The guest speaker is Carole Elbon from Whippoorwill Station. They provided the make it and take it project for attendees.
There were 15 presenters at Show-n-Tell and 7 prizes were awarded for the 50/50.
The meeting ended at 8:10 PM.
