The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held October 4, 2011.
The meeting was called to order by President Jeanette Flint at 7:00 pm and the Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members. President Flint thanked everyone that sent condolences and helped during the recent death of her husband.
The Secretary's Report was approved as read and the Treasurer's Report was given. There are 649 Guild members, not including members of the Sterling Stitchers, our newest chapter.
Ann Moroz reported on the January 2012 Vendor Marketplace. Fifty-one booths have been rented and plans are progressing well. [Webmaster: see letter regarding Demo & Class Ops]
Mary Shara reported for the Nominating Committee. Alice Nicholas has agreed to be a candidate for President and Lucy Verbois for Treasurer. Both ladies introduced themselves to the membership. President Flint asked for any volunteer candidates from the floor for both offices and there were none. The election of officers will be held at the November guild meeting.
Dale Angione announced an October 19th landscape class by Debbie Jones. Cost is $45 with the kit, and $25 for the class only. See Dale to sign up.
Suzy Golden from Sea Breeze reported on the progress and timeline of the charity quilt for the 2013 Showcase of Quilts and thanked all who have worked on the piecing. The pattern chosen is Blended Stars and the quilt is a king size quilt in Florida batik colors.
Micki MacCumbee, program chair, noted there were signup sheets in the back of the room for upcoming classes. Classes are listed on the Guild website (Learning Ops). Micki introduced the evening's speaker, Marianne Williamson, fiber artist, who showed many of her beautiful art quilts.
Show-n-Tell was conducted and there were eight 50/50 winners for the evening.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary
