Standing Committees:
Webmaster Marilyn Paluszak will be giving a 15 minute overview of the website at the March Guild meeting. This will ensure new members and those leaving us for the summer months know how to keep in touch via the website.
Ann Moroz reported on the huge success of the recent MarketPlace event. Jeannette Flint moved that we continue the MarketPlace in alternate years from the Showcase of Quilts. This was seconded by Judy Porter and carried. Ann asked if anyone had suggestions for improvement to the Marketplace event to email the suggestions to her.
Marilyn Paluszak recommended that at both the Showcase and MarketPlace, we have a method to advertise the Guild to prospective members. It was also suggested we participate in the Recreation Repartment open house events where residents are introduced to Villages activities.
Carole Schroeder handed out a FAQ sheet on the Showcase. Questions can be emailed to Ann or Carole through the QGOTV website [Showcase2013@QGOTV.org] . Chick-Fil-A has been selected as the food vendor and the judges will be Karen Roberts and Molly Waddell. The new hanging system has been ordered and other sub-committees are making progress. Side panels are being turned in by the Chapters.
After considerable discussion, it was decided that the guild members will vote on the charities that have been proposed to benefit from the sale of tickets for the raffle quilt. Carole will send all Chapter Presidents a list of the proposed charities. Each chapter should tally the number of votes from their membership for each of the proposed charities and give the tally totals to Carole Schroeder by Wednesday, February 29th. Regina Wolf made a motion to this effect seconded by Jeannette Flint and carried. Depending on the outcome of the vote, the committee will decide if one or two or more charities will share the proceeds of the raffle.
Marilyn Paluszak is heading up the sale of the drawing for chance tickets for the Charity Quilt. She will need the assistance of Guild members from all Chapters in marketing the tickets at events around The Villages.
Unfinished Business:
A draft revision of the Standing Rules was previously distributed. A motion was made by Cathy Barlow and seconded by Joyce Doig to approve the amendments to the standing rules and the motion was carried.
President Nicholas noted we still need someone to volunteer to be Historian.
Regina Wolf moved we allocate $300.00 to purchase new shelves/tubs for the storage area. The motion was seconded by Ruth Chary and carried.
New Business:
Lucie Verbois reported the financial records have been audited as required. A letter will be put on file. She also has payment voucher forms that must be filled out by anyone requesting reimbursement from the Guild.
President Nicholas has been in contact with the Recreation Department concerning liability of our chapters and volunteer coordinators, in particular, relating to bus trips. We have been advised that the wavier signed by all participants of The Villages Recreation Department activities covers the liability issue.
Donna Kudner moved we adjourn, seconded by Dale Angione. The meeting was adjourned at 4:25 pm
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary.
