Sunset Pointe is dedicated to promoting and perpetuating an appreciation, enjoyment and knowledge of quilting as an art form and a craft. This Chapter is organized for educational and charitable purposes to: contribute to the knowledge of and promote the appreciation of fine quilsts and quilt making; sponsor and support support quilting activities; gain knowledge of quilting techniques, patterns and history of quilt making, through educational meetings, travel and friendship; and promote and support ongoing charitable works within the community.
On a volunteer basis, as a group we do some charity work each year along with our own UFOs (unfinished objects). We make everything from pocketbooks, pillowcases and bed quilts, to wall hangings and Quilts of Valor. A day of girl talk, material buying and lunch always sparks an interest. We hold two quilt retreats every year (October and February), where either overnight or day quilters are welcome to attend for a fee. These provide a great time to share, learn, sew, laugh and eat together as quilters.
