- Pat Knoechel is scheduled for April 17th from 9:30 to 11:30 at Bridgeport Recreation Center
- The May program has been changed to Johnny and Debra Johnston who will give a presentation on sewing machine care as well as a trunk show of quilts. The committee will try to reschedule the Wade's treadle machine program for 2013.
Standing Committees:
Marilyn Paluszak reported that charitable organizations that contact her needing quilts will be listed on the website under Quilting Links. Chapters would like to see which organizations are already receiving quit donations from another chapter to a avoid duplication. Marilyn will survey Chapters and work with Lucie Verbois to create such a list.
Joy Lynch, Membership Chairperson, distributed sign-up sheets for those chapters wishing to order nametags. They are $10 each.
Ann Moroz reported for Showcase 2013. The missing golf cart cover has been found! It will be stored in a separate container in the storage unit. Ann noted that the storage unit is still quite full and space will be needed to store the new hanging system when it arrives. The committee was authorized to dispose of excess drums that are taking up needed space.
Charity quilt tickets have been on sale at the squares on two evenings with limited results. Members are encouraged to help sell tickets to friends/neighbors/etc.
President Nicholas reported she has received a number of calls expressing concerns relative to the boutique at Showcase 2013. There was considerable discussion regarding the space allocated the boutique as well as the security of the items. Judy Porter suggested we ask our Chapters how they feel about the boutique as the purpose of our Showcase is to show our quilts and our quilting projects. It was noted by Dale Angione that the boutiques at many quilt shows benefit the guild, not the individual member. Joyce Doig moved we table this discussion until after the 2013 show. Eloise Noble seconded the motion and it was passed. Questions regarding the 2013 boutique should be directed to the Boutique Committee through the Chapter representatives. Boutique guidelines are ready and will be communicated to all Chapters.
Beginning in May, the Showcase Committee will meet in the Washington Room at Laurel Manor, 6-7 pm on the first Tuesday of each month. Our regular Guild meeting room will be available at 6:30 pm on the first Tuesday for the regular monthly Guild meeting. Chapter presidents should notify their members that early admittance to the room on Guild meeting night can no longer be allowed.
President Nicholas noted the position of Guild Historian is still open. Please see if you have a member interested in this position.
Jeannette Flint thanked those members who donated quilts to the victims of the Illinois tornados. She will continue to distribute any further donations.
The Haven in Leesburg has been chosen by the membership to be the recipient of the proceeds from our charity quilt. They have been contacted.
Dale Angione noted that October 2013 will be the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Guild. She suggested we recognize those 20 year members with a pin and recognition event at our Guild meeting. Joy Lynch will research pins and report back.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee
Secretary
