Quilting Guild of The Villages December Executive Board Meeting

The Executive Board of the Quilting Guild of The Villages met December 18th at Saddlebrook Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 3:05 p.m.

After roll call, President Nicholas welcomed all new officers. Patchwork Garden will be rotating their President every four months.

The Secretary's Report was accepted as published.

Lucie Verbois gave the Treasurer's Report.

Micki MacCumbee reported on Programs. The September Lecturer has backed out but Micki has a back-up plan. Micki handed out the Program Meetings Calendar for 2013. The Guild Garage Sale will be held at Paradise Recreation Center on January 8th. Doors will open at 7:00 a.m. for set-up. The sale will be held from 8:00 a.m-11:00 a.m. Members will sign in as at the regular Guild meeting and receive tickets for wearing their name tag. Winners will be announced at regular intervals during the sale. Micki will be sending out an email telling participants which room their table will be in. Guild members who are manning a table are reminded to bring lots of small bills for change, a table cloth for cover, and bags for purchases.

Marilyn Paluszak, Webmaster, reported that she will be working with Micki and Jill from the Program Committee to set up a website calendar to showcase the Wednesday workshops and classes that will be held at Savannah Center and Seabreeze Recreation Center.  Marilyn asked that all chapters make sure that they email President Alice Nicholas of any officer changes so that she can keep the website up to date. Marilyn has volunteered to bring her laptop and demo the Web at chapter meetings; contact her at Webmaster@QGOTV.org to set a date.

Joy Lynch, Membership Chair, reported membership at 703 members; this number will be revised after receiving and checking Excel Sheets handed to her at the meeting. She also reported on the procedures for handing out 2013 membership cards.

Ann Moroz and Carole Schroeder reported on the Showcase.  Challenge quilts are to be dropped off at the January 8th Garage Sale. The Charity quilt has made a profit of $4623 to date. Chapters were reminded to get their Charity Quilt money and unsold tickets to Sharon Musch by January 8th. Showcase programs are at the printer. Several members are shadowing the 2013 co-chairs looking forward to the Showcase of Quilts 2015:  Sharon Musch and Cathy Barlow from Allamanda, Alice Fowler from Chatham, and Dale Angione from Mulberry. Ann reported that previous Showcase Chairs gave their subcommittee chairs gifts from their personal funds.  It was moved by Joyce Doig, seconded by Micki MacCumbee to provide $10 gift certificates to the Showcase Co-Chairs to distribute.

The new afternoon chapter at the Bradenton Recreation Center will have its first meeting during the third week of January. Interested Villagers are asked to attend the Bradenton Open House being held on Thursday, January 10th.

Alice wished everyone a Merry Christmas. The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.
