The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held May 1, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The regular meeting of The Quilting Guild of the Villages was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the membership.
Alice asked everyone to look toward the back of the room where the charity quilt was displayed and tickets were available. In addition, postcards picturing the quilt are available for publicizing the quilt to family, friends and neighbors.
President Nicholas then welcomed all members by Chapter.
The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.
Lucie Verbois gave a detailed Treasurer's report
It was announced that Jeannine Haller has more Challenge Quilt packets for anyone interested in participating in the 2013 Challenge.
Suzy Golden of SeaBreeze announced that leftover fabric from the 2013 Charity Quilt is being made into quilted bags. Each Chapter will receive one after the 2013 Showcase. The Chapters can use their own criteria to determine the winner of the bag. A number of the bags are complete and were shown on stage by the SeaBreeze quilters.
Micki MacCumbee, Program Chair, reminded the members we will be meeting throughout the summer months and activities are planned for each meeting.
Johnny Johnston and Debra Johnston were the evening's speakers. Johnny's presentation covered the history of the sewing machine as well as interesting and little known facts about the Singer Company and its founder. Debra showed a number of her quilts reflecting patters and projects she teaches at local quilt shops.
There were twelve participants in show and tell and four 50/50 winners.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary
