The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held September 4, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:05 p.m.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the members.
The secretary's report was accepted as read.
President Nicholas reminded the members the Treasurer's report is available for review by any member.
Each chapter was then individually welcomed by the president.
President Nicholas made the following announcements:
Beth Landas of the Friendship Star Chapter won First Place in the 2012 Hoffman Challenge in the applique category.
Charity Quilt tickets are available for sale.
Entry forms need to be submitted by October 1st for those wishing to participate in the 2013 Quilt Showcase.
Alice received a call regarding construction of a quilt from Florida Horse Park show ribbons. See Alice if you are interested in knowing more about this.
Tonight is the last night to pick up a challenge block for the 2013 Showcase.
The 2013 Showcase is being dedicated to the memory of our Guild's first president, Macky Nylin. Our website also has a page honoring Macky.
Candidates are needed for the positions of Vice President and Secretary. Micki MacCumbee has agreed to run for a second term as Vice President. Candidates for both positions will be presented at the October Guild meeting and voting will take place at the November Guild meeting.
Program Chair Micki MacCumbee announced sign-ups will start next month for a February 6th and 7th Sulky Sit and Sew. Cost of the full-day class is $60 which includes the kit.
Micki then introduced our speakers for the evening, Paula Lenahan and Cindy Wismann from the FiberArt Chix. They had a power point presentation of their life's journey of quilting and a trunk show of many of their unique and creative art quilts.
There were seven show and tell participants and ten 50/50 winners.
