The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held October 2, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:05 p.m.
Alice led the members in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.
President Nicholas then welcomed each chapter individually. She encouraged all members to consider submitting a quilt for the 2013 Showcase of Quilts.
Members were reminded the proceeds from the Charity Quilt ticket sales will go to The Haven of Lake and Sumter Counties and everyone was encouraged to sell and purchase tickets.
Alice then thanked those that sold Charity Quilt tickets at the Deland Quilt Show this weekend and she also thanked Dale Angione for her work on the wearable art portion of the show.
A bag with purchases was left on the bus from the Jacksonville Quilt Show. Please see Carole Schroeder if you have any information on this.
Nancy Myers of the B's will collect and deliver any quilts members have made for the Patriot Dog Program. Bring your quilts to the Guild Meeting next month and Beth Bender will make sure they get to Nancy.
Lucie Verbois, Chairperson of the Nominating Committee, reported the outcome of their two meetings. Micki MacCumbee has submitted her name to continue as Vice President and Heather Farnell of the Allamanda Chapter has agreed to run for Secretary. There were no nominations from the floor. Our by-laws state that if a candidate is unopposed, voting at the November meeting will be by a show of hands.
Micki MacCumbee announced sign-ups for the Sulky Seminar are now being taken. See your Chapter Program Rep to sign up.
The evening's speaker, Margie Engel, author, teacher, designer and quilter spoke about each of the beautiful applique quilts in her trunk show and described the techniques she used for the coloring, stitching and applique.
Sharkeys Vac and Sew of Wildwood donated an item for this evening's door prize. There were six members participating in Show and Tell and seven 50/50 winners.
President Nicholas reminded the members that our next Guild Meeting will be held November 6th, Election Day.
Respectfully Submitted,
Joyce McKee, Secretary
