The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held November 6, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:00 p.m.
Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The secretary's report was accepted with one correction. Sharkey's Vac and Sew of Wildwood was the company that donated a door prize last month.
Election of officers was conducted. There was one candidate for each open position. Micki MacCumbee was re-elected Vice President/Program Chair by a show of hands and Heather Farnell was elected Secretary by a show of hands. They will each serve a term of two years.
President Nicholas announced there were tables at the back of the room where members could sign up for volunteer duties at the 2013 Showcase of Quilts and also purchase donation quilt tickets.
It was announced that Joan Keltner of Allamanda Chapter entered a jacket in the wearable art category at the Houston show and won first place.
Micki MacCumbee, Program Chair, announced Guild meeting programs for the upcoming months.
December - Linda Beach, Award Winning Quilter from Alaska
January - Guild-wide 'Garage Sale' at Paradise Recreation Center
February - Parade of Quilts from the Showcase winners and refreshments
This evening's speaker was introduced. Linda Visnaw is an award winning fiber artist as well as a Viking and Golden Threads educator. Linda explained the ink product she uses and she described her method of free motion stitching and ink coloring of her fabric. She displayed many of her art quilt pieces.
There were nine participants in Show and Tell and eight 50/50 winners.
