The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held March 4, 2014 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

The Meeting was called to order by President Beth Bender at 7:00 p.m. 191 members were present.

All members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.

The Treasurer's report will no longer be read at the monthly Guild meetings. The report will be sent once a month to each chapter President and Member at Large.

Carol Riggs from Allamanda Chapter and Alice Nicolas, past Guild President, spearheaded a campaign to see which chapter could sew the most pillowcases for the ConKerr Cancer program. Judy Buchner from the Florida Tampa Bay Chapter of ConKerr Cancer, was on hand to accept the pillowcases. Judy talked about the program and how it benefits children who have cancer. The SeaBreeze chapter made the most pillowcases (506) and received a roll of batting as their prize. In total, 2,690 pillowcases were made by members of QGOTV.

Sharon Musch, Showcase 2015, reported that every chapter was present at the Showcase meeting.

Membership is now at 911 members.

There are still a few tickets left for the bus trip to Rainbow's End Quilt Shoppe in Dunedin and Country Quilts and Bears Quilt Shop in Clearwater on March 25. Cost is $25. Contact Jeannine at dancergirlj9@comcast.net or 753-2813.

President Bender announced that proceeds from Showcase 2015 Silent Auction will be used for Facility Management.

The Bylaws Review Committee will hold its next meeting on February 14th.

President Bender reminded members of the Lake County Quilt Show to be held in Mt Dora on March 7th and 8th.

Ruth Mazurski reminded members of the QGOTV Garage Sale to be held at the Paradise Recreation Center on March 18th.  Members who are selling items are to be there by 7A.M. Doors will open at 8A.M. Pat Knoechel from the Quilt in a Day Company will be giving a demonstration and trunk show on April 15th from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

Ruth introduced Dayle Finn, a fellow Villager who wrote a childrens book about quilting. The book is called The Magical Mouse Quilt. Dayle brought books to sell at a discount price of $9 and was available after the meeting for autographing the book.

Ruth then introduced Molly Waddell who is a quilt creator, teacher and certified judge. Molly demonstrated a few of her quilts and talked about what certified judges look for when they are looking at a quilt, and how to catch the judge's eye.

There were eighteen show-and-tell participants, six name-tag winners and ten 50/50 winners.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
