The meeting was called to order by the President, Cathy Barlow, at 1:05 p.m.
Secretary's Report -We dispensed with the reading of the minutes since they were previously distributed to the members via email. A printed copy of the minutes will be available for review at each business meeting.
Treasurer's Report - The checking account balance on December 9th, 2011 was $5,431. Receipts for the last month totaled $670.00 and expenses for the same period were $1,083. The ending balance on January 10, 2012, is $5018.
Membership Committee - An updated roster will be included with distribution of the minutes. Members should take a moment to check their personal information on the roster to ensure it is accurate.
Program Committee - Sharon Musch provided the following information:
Classes are available and are offered by national teachers. Members are encouraged to check the Guild website (www.qgotv.org) for the latest information regarding upcoming programs and classes. If interested in attending any classes, please see Sharon at a meeting or write to sharonmusch@comcast.net . Payment is needed to assure a class spot. Handouts were available on the back table for the Quilting Guild of The Villages' programs during the period January 2012 through March 2013.
OLD BUSINESS
An Adobe Software Purchase will not be necessary.
4H: Carol Fox stated the next meeting is on Wednesday, January 25th. The girls are working at different paces, some on the Blue Jean Purse and some on PJ Bottoms. Carol thanked all the members who have given their help.
Retreat: Monique Foley stated 22 members will attend. She called for a meeting at the end of today's chapter meeting.
Allamanda Banner for Showcase 2013: Chair is Marlene Jensch. Her committee is Nancy Wilcox, Sharon Hannahs and Joan Keltner. Marlene explained that Allamanda is not just our chapter name but a flower. She said this flower will be incorporated into the design of the banner.
Sister Chapter: Cathy Barlow stated that Sterling Stitchers (Judy Short, President) accepted her invitation to be our sister chapter. Cathy and Judy will meet next week at the next Executive Board meeting.
The Finish Line: A demo will be given by Jo Loder on the 4Bs (backing, batting, borders, binding). This demo is great for new quilters and will be offered to Allamanda members free at our February 28 meeting. No sewing machines will be needed.
MarketPlace 2012 (One Stop Shop Hop): There will be 51 vendors. This event will be take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, 10a-7p and Sunday, Jan. 22, 10a-6p at the Savannah Center. General Admission is $7; Guild members with 2012 ID cards will get a $2 discount. Dona Black is our volunteer coordinator for this event. Anyone wanting to be a backup volunteer may contact Dona at dona918@gmail.com .
Webmaster: Marilyn Paluszak explained the Guild website and requested feedback from anyone should a link on the site not advance to the proper location.
Charity Quilt: Marilyn Paluszak updated us on this program. Each chapter including our new one, Sterling Stitchers, played a part. Marilyn now has 4,000 tickets that need to be offered as receipt of a donation. One ticket is given for a $1.00 donation and 6 tickets for a $5.00 donation. There are 700 members in the Guild and Marilyn believes many volunteers will step up to the plate to help with ticket distribution at various functions and clubs during 2012. The Market Place 2012 will be the first such function where the quilt will be displayed and donations taken for a chance to win this beautiful king size quilt, pillowcases and shams. Anyone wishing to serve as a volunteer at MarketPlace to watch over the quilt and sell raffle tickets should contact Marilyn at Webmaster@QGOTV.org.
Showcase of Quilts 2013: Sharon Musch explained how the committee, along with its partners, will aid in this program and will meet monthly to determine and report any progress made. Volunteers are needed for the check in and out of the quilts on judging day as well as at the quilt show. Sterling Stitchers will offer some participation with this project.
NEW BUSINESS
Cathy explained that a hand out from Superior Threads (How much thread does it take) will be sent as an attachment with the minutes.
Sharon Mush made a motion that two new wide width iron boards should be purchased. Carolyn Page seconded the motion; following a brief discussion the motion passed.
Guild Meeting Hostess Duties: Allamanda chapter will have hostess duties at the July 3, 2012 Guild Meeting. Volunteers are needed to arrive early, give out tickets, collect money for the 50/50 tickets and help handle show-n-tell. Cathy will send out a list for volunteer sign up.

Several Showcase Boutique ideas were discussed...; we need a Showcase Boutique volunteer.
Quilting Sisters' Luncheon LaTiDah will be held on February 11th at the La Hacienda Center, starting at 11:00 a.m. Anyone interested in purchasing a ticket for the luncheon should contact Paula Mooney at plmooney@aol.com.
Cathy asked if anyone heard of a bus tour being planned for the event "Original Sewing and Quilt Expo." No response was given.
Cathy gave us the sad news regarding Whippoorwill Station which will have a store closing sale this Thursday at 10am.
Cathy spoke about the Lake County Guild Quilt Show: March 1 (9a-6p) and March 2 (9a-4p) at Lake Receptions (4425 Hwy. 19A, Mt. Dora, FL) - a fun time with demos, door prizes, vendors, quilt sales etc.
Cathy also spoke about the Venice Area Quilters Guild Show: March 31 (9a-5p) & April 1 (10a-5p). Admission is $7 per day or $12 for a 2-day pass.
Sally Sonnichsen explained about Material Girl in Eustis and Marie Anderson's kits for raw edge appliqué. Many were interested and Sally will follow up and advise when a class will be given and for how many. The cost will not be more than $10 per person. At this time, March 27th is slated for this class.
Jo Loder explained that an attachment will go out with the minutes on AAUW.
Dee has run 19 years in the Disney Marathon, what a trooper she is!
Quilters Cove in Orlando will offer 10% off all merchandise to our Guild members.
January A-BOMB was won by Karen Mahn
50/50 names were picked and two shared the winnings: One winner received $10 and the other received $7.
Several beautiful Show-n-Tell items were presented, including a technique tip and a wonderful print. Check out the pictures on the web site.
