Janet Agostinelli informed the group of how funds could be raised by providing an auction. She said old items as well finished items could be auctioned off. We could invite other chapters as Captiva and or Sterling Sisters to join us for this event. In the past this type event raised as high as $1,200. By a show of hands all are interested. This will be put on the agenda at a later time to determine exact dates and time to be held.
Showcase 2013- Sharon Musch informed the group that at present things are moving along.
Entering Quilts - Entry forms & instructions for making a hanging sleeve are on the website www.qgotv.org Please note entries along with a photo of the quilt(may still be in progress) are due by October 1st to Cathy Barlow.
Allamanda Showcase Banner - Marlene Jensch was not present to give an updated report however Nancy Wilcox explained a meeting will be held next week where different ideas will be reviewed.
Showcase Boutique - Several quick workshops will cover several different projects that will help the items to sell! Members can participate in 1 or 2 or all workshops that interest them. The goal is to make at least one item for the chapter to sell at the boutique. Each instructor will send out pre-class preparations that need to be done prior to the workshop so instruction time at our meetings will be limited to one hour. Handouts will be provided at the workshop and be available to members who can't make the meeting so they can make the item at home. Those that attended Heather Farnell's class on March 20th are urged to turn in completed items as soon as possible. It was determined by all in attendance that no additional items are to be made for this boutique. We will proceed with workshops for the items we have selected.
Suzanne Brown who is Allamanda's representative for the Showcase gave us an update from the committee meeting she attended. The main requirement is that all items entered either by the chapter or by an individual must be quilted or has some quilting on it. Suzanne explained that any individual who enters any item for sale will not turn any funds back to the chapter. She will provide a sign-up sheet at another time to determine the number of individuals entering items.
Charity Quilt Committee - Sharon Musch reminded us that she has donation tickets are available at each meeting. The suggested minimum donations are $1 for 1 ticket and $5 for 6 tickets. On April 17th, Allamanda will have responsibility to staff a table at Lake Sumter Landing (4:30 p.m. through 9:00 p.m.) We need volunteers to set up and accept donations and sell chances for the drawing (January 26, 2013). Please contact Cathy to sign up as a volunteer or for any questions or last minute changes.
