Cathy Barlow called the meeting to order. Starting with the June Guild meeting, the Executive Board decided to not read the treasurer's report at the meeting. The reason for this is that guests and visitors do not need to know the specifics of Guild finances. Cathy Barlow will have a copy of the Guild report and share the information at Allamanda's business meeting. Reports are also on file with Dee Dean for any member who wishes to review them. Since Allamanda's minutes are published on the website for anyone to look at, the group decided that Allamanda will no longer print specific balances in the minutes. The report will continue to be presented at each business meeting, and the reports will also be on file with Dee.
Heather reported we now have 82 members.
Mary Spinelli is in the hospital with double pneumonia. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.
Sharon reported on the programs available to the members for the remainder of the year. Please sign up so classes will not have to be cancelled. Sign-up for fall classes are being taken this summer. Sharon placed a copy of the available classes on each table. Sharon also announced that she will be stepping down from her office at the end of December. If anyone is interested in this position please talk to Sharon.
Carol Fox reported on the 4-H group. Please save the newspaper article and picture from the paper, and bring it to her at the next meeting. She discussed the work the children were doing. Cathy asked if we want to continue with this project, possibly having scheduled days to work with the group (vs. short meetings in the evenings) to increase the number of volunteers. Carol will continue for another year as coordinator/leader of this group. Janet made a motion to continue this project, and it was seconded by Wanda. The motion carried.
On July 2, 2012 we have Guild Hostess duties. Volunteers should be at Laurel Manor by 6 pm to help set-up and ensure we're ready for Guild members to arrive by 6:30 pm.
Janet Agostinelli is our new Historian. If you see anything in the paper, please cut it out and give to Janet for our scrapbook.
An auction for our group has been set for January 15, 2013. Please save items to auction off, as this is a money raising project for our group.
A reminder that the room will not be available for a meeting on August 14 due to elections. Does anyone want to plan a road trip on this day to a Florida Quilt shop? This is also our regular business meeting day. The group agreed to skip the August meeting rather than trying to reschedule it.
