Old Business:
4H:  Carol Fox provided an update on 4H activities.
There was a meeting on July 5th with the girls and  last years' plusses and minuses were rehashed.  All 5 girls want to continue, so at open enrollment in September  3 more spots will be available, this will total 8. The new ones will be required to do a basics session so that all enrolled are at about the same skill level.
The girls made 2 recycled blue jeans purses as our club contribution to the silent auction that will take place at the August 17th awards dinner.  Carol is making a crib size quilt to donate and she  asked  if anyone from Allamanda would like to donate an item for the auction.  She thinks the item does not need to be  sewing related as there are other clubs with livestock, etc. and one club is putting together a tub of horse related supplies. The item should be new and something that people would want to bid on.  The proceeds will go to the 4H scholarship fund.
A calendar was set up for meetings up to December, 2012.   It was agreed that daytime hours are better than nights and Saturdays and school holidays were picked. The Pinellas library facility is where the meetings will be held. The dates scheduled thus far are Saturday, Aug. 25, Sept. 8, Oct. 27, Nov. 10 (9am to 2 pm) and Wednesday Dec. 27 (10am to 3pm).
While we have reserved the room from 9am we might not start until 10 am since some of the girls have farm chores to do before coming to the meeting. Carol will post a volunteer sign- up sheet at all of the Allamanda meetings and she encourages people to sign up to help at a meeting.  If you did not already submit paperwork, Carol will have forms to be filled out.  This assures the safety of the girls and parents and covers the volunteers under the University of Florida insurance policy should an accident occur at a meeting.

Guild Hostess Duties: Thanks to all the ladies who volunteered and helped out with our hostess duties at July's Guild Meeting.

Peace Quilts Donation - Approximately 120 yards of fabric (almost 40lbs.) was mailed out June 19th.  Great job ladies!

Auction - Original date of January 15th was right after the Guild garage sale so our date  is changed to March 19, 2013.  This will give us some breathing room after Showcase and our Allamanda retreat.

REMINDER-There will not be a meeting August 14th.  At present there is no road trip planned.

Sister Chapter Event with Sterling Stitchers on July 24th is coming quickly.  Please notify Sharon Musch by July 16th, if your are planning to attend.

Community Service- Hospice Angel Quilt - Jo Loder explained how Hospice uses their Angel Quilt and how they are in need of a new one.  Marilyn motioned for  the Allamanda Chapter to purchase the material and  Cathy volunteered to do the machine quilting. All were in agreement for Allamanda  making this new quilt which will be approximately 57 x 84.  A sign-up sheet was passed around for those interested in participating.

Showcase 2013- General Information:  There will be a new category - 3200 - Hand Applique, machine quilted, individual or collaborative.

Entering Quilts - Entry forms & instructions for making a hanging sleeve are on the website  www.qgotv.org  Please note entries along with a photo of the quilt(may still be in progress) are due by October 1st. . Please see Cathy Barlow for the entry form.

Allamanda Showcase Banner - Marlene Jensch was not at our meeting however Joan  said she and Nancy are working on it and will have it finished real soon. We look forward to viewing this beautiful design.

Showcase Boutique -Suzanne Brown was not present at this meeting to provide an update.

Charity Quilt Committee - Sharon Musch  explained that the material left over from this project  was made into LaBorsa Bags and each Guild Chapter received one. Sharon displayed Allamand's bag.  This bag will go to the member that sells the most donation tickets. Donation tickets are still available. The suggested minimum donations are $1 for 1 ticket and $5 for 6 tickets. Sharon Musch does keep tabs as to each member's selling activity. The Charity Quilt was photographed and Marilyn Paluszak explained at a previous meeting that a member could e-mail a friend, provide the link for www.qgotv.org  which when utilized one could see the picture of the Charity Quilt in full detail. Perhaps our friends will be moved to make a donation to win this beautiful quilt as a result of their viewing this beautiful work of art.
