OLD BUSINESS:
4H: Carol Fox was not present today but Cathy shared a thank you letter the 4H club received from the Samaritan Inn for the quilts and pillow cases the group donated. The Samaritan Inn is located in Leesburg, and the group is renovating rooms in an old motel to be used to assist homeless families. If you're looking for a charity with which to share some quilts you're making, the Samaritan Inn would truly appreciate anything you have to share.
REMINDER-There will not be a meeting Tuesday, November 6th, 2012. At present there is no road trip planned; however, if anyone would like to coordinate a shop-hop for the day, please see Cathy.
Sister Chapter Event - Sterling Stitchers weren't interested in another event at this time due to the busy holiday season that is fast approaching and the preparation they are doing for Showcase.
VP OPENING (September-December)- Joan Keltner volunteered to fill-in for the rest of the year.
NEW BUSINESS:
Allamanda Officer Nominations- Two positions are open- Vice President and Secretary for 2013-2014. Jo Loder represented the Nominating Committee and explained that the following individuals volunteered to run for the open positions: Joan Keltner and Suzanne Brown for the Vice President position and Terry Murphy and Diana Szymaszek for the Secretary position. Voting for these positions will take place at the November business meeting.
2013 Dues - After a brief discussion, Regina Bozza moved that Allamanda dues remain the same at $15 for 2013. Donna Aucoin seconded the motion, and the motion was approved by the members present at the meeting. The annual $15 dues include $5 that is sent to the Guild and $10 for Allamanda's treasury. In order to coordinate the necessary paperwork and ensure that Guild 2013 membership cards are issued in time for you to use to obtain FREE admission to the Showcase in January, please pay your dues by December 1st. Dues should be paid to Dee Dean by check, made payable to Allamanda Quilters.
Holiday Party- Joan Keltner is taking reservations for the holiday party. The cost is $15. Please see her at a future meeting (or mail a check to her home) by November 27th if you plan to attend the party.
Showcase 2013-

Allamanda Banner- Cathy will turn the banner in at the December Board meeting.
Silent Auction- Chatham is handling this portion of Showcase. Items that you would like to donate should be brought to a Guild meeting. If you can't make it to a Guild meeting, see Cathy to determine how to contact Chatham to get them your donation.
Showcase Boutique -Suzanne Brown was not present at this meeting to provide an update, however Cathy explained that members may put personal items in the boutique as well. Please get tickets from Suzanne to attach to your items and turn them in to her. Proceeds after a Guild percentage will be returned to the individual member.
Charity Quilt - Please see the web site for the status of all donations. Deland proceeds totaled $507 for the two days. As a member of the Guild, everyone is encouraged to support our organization's charity work by purchasing tickets for the donation quilt. Cathy has tickets available for purchase at each meeting.
Volunteer Responsibilities -Judging Days & Showcase Days-Putting on a quilt show like the Showcase of Quilts in The Villages, is no easy task. It turns out to be a beautiful and interesting show due to the hard work of many, many volunteers. A Steering Committee and chapter representatives have been busy meeting over the last 18 months or so to get things organized. Now... it's our turn!
Allamanda, along with Sterling Stitchers, will be responsible for Check-In / Check-Out of quilts (and everything that that entails) for Judging Days and the actual Showcase event. Responsibilities were described at today's business meeting, and sign-up sheets were available for members to begin volunteering. Allamanda needs 35 volunteers to fill each of the shifts that have been set-up over 4 days, and 17 backup people. Backups are people who are willing to be called to fill-in if something happens to a regularly scheduled person. As people sign-up, we're asking them to provide cell phone numbers so that we can contact them during these events if need be.
Judging will take place on January 10 and 11 at Laurel Manor, and our responsibilities at Showcase are on January 24 and January 26. Basically, the Check-In role is accepting quilts from entrants and providing receipts. Runners take the quilts from the Check-In people and place them where they need to go. They also will be working in the judging room un-bagging quilts and laying them out in preparation for judging. Door Monitors watch the doors to the judging room (on judging days) and the Showcase hall (at the end of the show) to ensure that only those authorized enter the room. More detailed information will be provided on the responsibilities of the various roles at a volunteer meeting that will be held on Wednesday, January 9th, at 4:30 at Laurel Manor.
Please consider signing up for at least one shift to help support the Showcase of Quilts for our Guild. This is a major money maker for the Guild's charitable giving. Cathy would also like to give our seasonal members a chance to sign-up for a volunteer opportunity during the days listed above. If you are interested, please email Cathy ASAP to place your name on the sign-up list.
Other groups will also be looking to the Guild for help in filling other responsibilities such as Angels or assistance in the Boutique, etc. Cathy is asking Allamanda members to consider signing up for Allamanda's responsibilities before looking to help elsewhere.
Show-and-Tell -many beautiful items were displayed by nine members. Please visit the website www.qgotv.org to view each of these items.
Reminders/Announcements -when donating a charity quilt, please provide Regina Bozza with your name and details as to where the donation was made and date donated.

ABOM - The winner - Donna Aucoin
