QUILTING B'S CHAPTER NEWS: FEBRUARY RETREAT 2012
Twenty of the Quilting B's spent February 14 through 16 at the Methodist Retreat Center in Fruitland Park, enjoying their annual retreat. It is always fun to get away for a couple of days of enjoying each others' company.
Many of us worked on one project: Thinking outside the Block, a pattern from Toadusew. There are a couple of pictures of the project in progress. [www.toadusew.com/]
We also had a Jelly Roll Race. You start with a package of 40 2½" strips. Cut 18" off the first strip, then join the strips end-to-end with a bias join. When you have a really long strip sewn, put the two ends side-by-side and sew the strips together, cutting the original strip at the fold. Again put the two ends together and sew the two strips together, cutting at the fold. Repeat until you have a stripped piece that measures roughly 50" x 60". First one done wins the race. Google Jelly Roll Race for a good tutorial.
The B's will have a "garage sale" at their March 20 meeting. Anyone is welcome to come shopping.
