Well Friends, summer is upon us, at least that is what the weather says. Perhaps that is why almost all of our Snow Birds and seasonal members have departed…. looking for cooler days. We have heard from a few that left earlier and encourage all of you to keep in touch.
April was a rather quiet month for us Piecemakers. Member Barbara Morrow was chosen as winner of "Block of the Quarter". She chosen a Friendship Block and many of the finished ones, due the end of April, have been returned. We look forward to seeing the finished top when she has assembled it.
We have two new members, Alice and Mary. A couple of others members who have been out due to illness or work, were able to visit and/or return to us over the past few weeks; Jerry Rutledge, Betty Poling, Ann Vogel, and Pat Julian
We were informed that Eileen Hepp's husband passed away. Eileen had a very nice Memorial Service in his honor and many of our members were able to attend. Our prayers are with her as she mourns her loss.
Many of the quilters shared their work over the month, a few of us took a trip to Rainbow's End, and a good number of the members joined the "Bs" to learn how to make a tote bag by their president, Sandi.
We recently created an Advisory Committee to look at the by-laws as it appears they have not been updated since 2002. In addition this committee will look at various topics such as Chapter's expenses, how the members make decisions, and record keeping for the various activities like Block of the Quarter. The Committee will make recommendations to the members and get their feedback. This temporary committee is expecting to complete a list of recommendations by the end of May.
I am also happy to say that the directory notebook with photos of the members is just about complete. It will be available for anyone interested in becoming more familiar with newer members.
The Fat Quarter, done monthly, scheduled to take place at the last meeting of each month, was participated in by many members. Mary Whitmore, organizer of the activity, did a nice job. Thank You!
