PIECEMAKERS CHAPTER NEWS: MAY 2012
May was a busy yet relatively quiet month for the Piecemakers. A brunch, "show and tell" and some demonstrations with the B's were, as always, enjoyable. Upon arrival to the brunch the Piecemakers were directed to sit at the table that displayed the month of their birth which encouraged members to meet others. Beth Bender did a demonstration on "quilt as you go" block and Suzanne Kendrick did a demo/presentation on a block.
As one is accustomed to, Piecemakers members shared their work, ideas and opinions throughout the monthly meetings.
Barb Morrow was given a gift certificate and thank you card for the cookies she brings every week. She told me that her mother did this and she is carrying it on.
The business of this month was in the form of administrative. An eight member committee, (specifically: Ann Vogel, Jan Watkins, Viola Shenton, Rosemary Simone, Barbara Kingsbury, Delores Korff, Esther Meinhardt, and Barbara Rule-Mispel) met throughout the month to complete the task of updating the Piecemakers By-Laws. Having completed that task the team worked to create "job descriptions" for the offices of President, Secretary and Treasurer.
In addition, the team wrote outlines for the on-going activities such as "Block of the Quarter" and "Sunshine." This work lead to the creation of a "librarian" as we realized the need of taking inventory of the chapter's supplies and tools and creating a record keeping to monitor the "in and out" use of tools. The By-Laws will be voted upon in June and other documentations will be available for viewing soon after.
Last but not least, it was decided that the chapter needed a team to address our charity projects and donations. The team, led by Rosemary Simone will be looking at the various aspects of how we handle donations and do charity projects. We look forward to the positive results that this team as well as the Charity Project and Donations produce.
