May 1 Guild meeting tonight at 6:30.
Sheddy took a jelly roll class at Sterling Heights. Also an idea - use scraps left over from Accuquilt cutting for closeline baskets.
Boutique - Sheddy has a list of allowed and not allowed items. They must be made by a guild member and be new or like new with no odors or pet hairs. Barb C ideas - wine bags and bun liner. Dottie - mug pinafores (Sheddy has instructions).
Alice - each chapter needs to donate 1 item for every 5 members for the silent auction.
There is a Babyloc machine for sale (Elegante) for $2000. Also a Singer machine and a quilt rack.
Bartow - Sheddy and Brenda went to visit the ranch. There are two sets of house parents - we need to make two queen size quilts. What pattern should we use for these?
Suzy - Charity quilt tickets - pay for books in advance. We have twelve LaBoursa bags as incentives to sell tickets.
Juanita - Operation Shoebox has given us donated fabric to use for comfort quilts.
May 8 Sheddy - Quilt show applications (due Oct 1) - you may enter only one quilt per category.
We are using donated green fabric as the background for the cabin parents quilt.
Barb C - we have 33 signed up for the February retreat. There is only one room left. Kathy Pugh needs a roommate.
Suzy - Barb Holtermann will help with the charity tickets while Suzy is away.
Doris C idea - share quilt magazines
Comfort quilts - string blocks - make sure corner pieces are large enough to allow for trimming.
May 15 Class for Ruth Laerson's pattern for a reversible quilt will be held at the library on May 31st . Hosted by Lake Miona chapter. $25 Taught by Debra Johnston.
We need 36 16" blocks for the cabin parent's quilt (pinwheel pattern).
Sew Mini Things (Mt Dora) gives good discounts (up to 30% for quilts of valor).
Alice - On Judy Hansen's newsletter (Deland) - the children's hospital in Orlando outreach program needs either pillowcases, a bear, or a quilt for the children.
Jacksonville Quiltfest - Sept 20-22, 1st annual quilt show in Deland Sept 29 and 30.
May 22 Sheddy will teach the pineapple block on June 5th.
May 29 Seabreeze has arranged our table differently - we may only have 20 tables in the room.
Captiva rec center will have a display/demo of quilt projects on June 19th.

Mary Ann - Senior Adventures has a bus trip to Quiltfest in Jacksonville.
July 2012
July 3 Guild meeting tonight.
Mary Ann - there is a class on doodling (free motion quilting).
July 10 Alice chaired the meeting.
The August guild meeting will feature Sudoku quilts.
Kristi Cantu has to leave the guild due to work schedule.
July 24 There are quilt shows in Tampa (November) and Broward County (March).
There will be a display of projects from groups meeting at Seabreeze - no date yet.
Mary Ann - members can sign up for guild classes online.
Alice - there will be a guest speaker in two weeks.
Bette - Quilt books are available for the kindle and ipad. Out to lunch today at Glenview.
July 31 Donna and Jan from Giving Dolls club came to speak about what their group does. They have asked us to provide doll blankets for the dolls they give to charities (they have given dolls to about 50 charities).
Sheddy - there is a garage sale on Aug 3 and 4 (Aug 2 for quilters only) - Malinda Harmon, St. James, Macintteosh court.
Mary Ann - Boutique for quilters in West Melbourne can host a class with lunch for a group of up to 20 quilters.
Sheddy - we need someone to give a demo for the first meeting in September.
Mary Ann - will teach Sudoku today in preparation for the guild meeting in August (Sudoku with fabric).
Maureen - will teach a table runner class (using border fabrics) on August 7th
Sheddy - we will be visiting each other's sewing studios/rooms. Today at Martha's in St. Charles.
August 2012
August 28 We will be having a sit and sew at Seabreeze on Wednesday August 29 (all day).
Request for two people to serve on the nominating committee for the guild for the positions of secretary and vice president. Juanita and Janet volunteered.
The raffle quilt committee meets this Friday. Our rep is Barb Holtermann. They will discuss the selling of the tickets.
The Deland quilt show - the guild will have a table to display the charity quilt and sell tickets. It is on Sept 29 (10AM - 6PM) and Sunday (10AM - 4PM). There is a signup sheet to cover the table.
Mary Ann - question as to why our chapter hasn't been signing up for guild workshops.
Today is out to lunch.
September 30th - call for quilts to be displayed at Seabreeze.
