OLD BUSINESS:
BYLAWS: We shared comments and discussed the tentatively written bylaws. In the end the only change to be made to the bylaws before taking a vote is the following:
ARTICLE VIII: MEETINGS
We removed PART "C"
ARTICLE X: CHANGE IN BYLAWS
C. For changes to be made to the Bylaws at least two-thirds of the members must participate in the vote. Approval by majority of submitted votes.
Vote to approve the Bylaws will take place at the Sept. 4th Business Meeting. OR by email proxy vote to be submitted to Marilyn D. prior to Aug. 31, 2012
NEW BUSINESS:
--Reminder To All Members: Please take the time to help in the set-up for our weekly work meetings & also in the take-down. Let's not let this always fall onto the same people each week. Thanks!
--It was brought up that an "appreciation gift" might be a nice gesture for the Sterling Heights workers who always have our tables nicely arranged and the room ready for us each week. It was decided that we would remember them with a gift at the holidays.
--STERLING STITCHERS BIRTHDAY-September marks the ONE-YEAR Birthday for our quilting chapter. It was decided that a celebration is needed. Gwen H. very graciously agreed to head up a committee to organize a "party"!! The date will be Sept. 25th.
--August Birthdays were acknowledged.
BUT-our birthday fat quarter basket is getting low !! So we are asking each member to donate a new fat quarter to the basket to help replenish it. Thank You!
--Nomination Committee: This committee will be formed in September and is in need of 2 members. Offices up for election are Vice President, Secretary and Guild Rep.
--Joanne mentioned that Esther (President of the Piecemakers) would be willing to come talk with us about options for some scrap quilts for our charity projects and some ideas for getting donations of fabric/batting etc.
Meeting adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
