The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held March 6, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
President Alice Nicholas opened the meeting at 6:55 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the membership.
The Secretary's report was read by Dale Angione and accepted by the membership.
Lucie Verbois gave the Treasurer's report and it was filed for review. Lucie asked Ann Moroz, Chairwoman of the Vendor Marketplace, to please stand so that the Guild could recognize her extraordinary efforts on behalf of the Guild in raising $11,407.04 which will be used in part to purchase a new hanging system for the Showcase of Quilts.
Jeannine Haller was selling Challenge Quilt packets at a table in the back of the room.
Sharon Musch was also at a table in the back where chance tickets for the Charity Quilt were available.
Alice reported that the voting is complete and the Charity Quilt proceeds will benefit The Haven in Leesburg.
Rose Luehrsen from Mulberry Chapter won a first place ribbon and also best of show at the Florida State Fair for her quilt, Simple Pleasures.
Marilyn Paluszak, our webmaster, gave an informative talk explaining all the facets of the Guild website.
Vice President Micki MacCumbee reminded us that each chapter has a program representative that has information about upcoming classes and Guild programs. There is also a table at the back of the room at each Guild meeting to take reservations for future classes. Two new classes have just been added for the Fiber Art Chix for September and there is still room in the Debbie Jones Seascape class in June.
Sunset Pointe is sponsoring a shop hop to Orange City and Ormond Beach. Call Linda Thomas for more information.
There were twelve items for Show-n-Tell, six winners for the nametag drawing and five winners for the 50/50.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
