The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held December 4, 2012 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.
The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 6:55 p.m.
Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.
President Nicholas led a Happy Holidays cheer and made the following announcements:
The 14th chapter Of the Quilting Guild of the Villages will meet in the Bradenton Village Recreation Center beginning in January. It will be a Tuesday afternoon chapter with meeting hours from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Charity Quilt package has been appraised at $2,225. Members are encouraged to purchase tickets and to volunteer for 2013 Showcase of Quilts duties.
The Installation Ceremony was held for 2013-2014 Officers: Micki MacCumbee as Vice President/Program Chair and Heather Farnell as Secretary.
10 year pins were awarded to the following members: Sharon Hannahs of Allamanda; Rose Bardelli, Sandy Collins, Joy Lynch, Eileen Powers, Laina Schmidel, Claudine Sullivan, Carol Tolpa, and EvaLou Weeden of Chatham; Anne Hyde, Chris Pianis, Anne Stewart and Barbara Teut of Friendship Star; Sue Hammond, Denise Lasley and Gae Nocella of Mulberry; and Judy Porter, Donna Smith and Elaine Tomaszewski of the Quilting B's.
Past Presidents were recognized: Macky Nylin of Laurel Manor, Dale Angione of Mulberry, Janett McGinnis of Chatham, Gae Nocella of Mulberry, Cherly Hahnfeldt of Sunset Pointe, and Jeanette Flint of Laurel Manor. (Macky Nylin's name badge will be sent to her daughter, along with the Showcase Program dedicating Showcase 2013 in her memory.)
This evening's speaker was introduced. Linda Beach is a fiber artist who has been commissioned for several large public pieces and has participated as an Artist-In-Residence for several national parks in Alaska, Colorado, and Maine. Linda had a presentation showing several of her commissions and how she used inspirations from nature to design her quilts.
There were fifteen participants in Show and Tell and eight 50/50 winners.
