GUILD MEMBER'S SHOW-N-TELL
Linda Beach
A wonderful slide show illustrated how Linda Beach turns her ideas and inspirations into art quilts. We moved with Linda from photo to drafting patterns to the final pieced art quilt. And the audience was entertained as well as startled every so often to see through enlargements exactly what fabrics were being used. Her vision for the simplicity of beauty in nature and her caring hands that add touches of surprise through hidden bits of fancy-cut fabrics create beautiful art quilts. It was also interesting to learn how Linda has participated as an artist-in-residence at several national parks in Alaska, Colorado and Maine.
Don't forget to offer your family, friends and neighbors the opportunity to win the Charity Quilt. You can purchase chances to win this ensemble at your weekly Chapter meetings or at the upcoming Showcase of Quilts 2013.
In addition to the swearing in ceremony for Micki MacCumbee (Vice President) and Heather Farnell (Secretary), President Nicholas awarded 10-year pins to several members and bestowed special name badges to those members who have served as President of the Guild in the past. Macky Nylin was the Guild's first president and her pin will be sent to her daughter along with a copy of the Showcase of Quilts 2013 program that will be dedicated in her memory.
Those of us who are newer to the Guild appreciate the work that has gone on before us ... it is the foundation for all of us as we move toward our tomorrows.
