Ellen Lindner gave us the tools to encourage everyone to be adventuresome through a better understanding of color.  Starting with the color wheel and a discussion of how opposites are attractive, she moved on to tone and value and their impacts on our quilts.  Whether you work on a monochromatic quilt or choose a more colorful array of fabrics, knowing the effects of the more subtle influences of color can -- often does -- make the difference in the 'wow factor' of any quilt.  Sometimes we don't even realize why one particular combination is the more pleasing than another.  That is where the use of a good color wheel and a basic understanding of light and shade will make the difference.
If you missed the meeting or just need a follow-up do not miss Ellen's website:  adventurequilter.com  The Learn with Ellen tab brings you to a page where you can choose to enroll in an on-line course; or you can review her illustrated notes from her presentation at Free Articles.  Check out Ellen's artistry under Quilt Gallery, sign up for her newsletter or join her blog.  So take a moment; give yourself a gift today and lose yourself in the world of color!

  GUILD MEMBER'S SHOW-N-TELL
Teddy Pruitt, a certified quilt appraiser, has established the value of this quilt ensemble at $2,225.  Someone is going to be one lucky winner when the chance drawing for this quilt, shams, pillowcases and more is done at 3:00 p.m., January 26, 2013, at the Showcase of Quilts.  Be sure to let your family and friends in on this great opportunity to win a beautiful quilt while helping a very worthy organization.
And remember:  Mark your calendar for January 25-26, 2013 as this wonderful quilt show comes again to the Savannah Center in The Villages, Florida.
Ever wonder what you might be missing by not attending a Guild meeting?
Although we try hard to give our members an overview of the information our guest lecturers provide, we realize it is just that.  By attending a Guild meeting, you get to process the information, ask questions, share with other quilters and ... for many of us, the best thing is that you get an opportunity for an up-close and personal look at what these artists do and how they do it.  Each trunk show is like a miniature quilt show without the hassle of booking a motel room.

And then Piecemakers started showing
the 30-some quilts they made for a charity project
and the stage looked like a closeline

as we whipped through the countryside!
Piecemakers ... we think we got them all ??
