PATCHWORK GARDEN CHAPTER NEWS:  JANUARY 21, 2013
Secretary's Report -- The minutes of the January 7 meeting were approved without change.

Program Announcements  -- Ruth Chary informed the group of the Guild's upcoming programs.  Jo DeCandia e-mailed members a complete QGOTV Calendar describing all of these activities on January 22.  Ruth said the Guild's Garage Sale was a big success.  There were many vendors and many buyers.

Showcase of Quilts
Time and Place -- This Friday, January 25 from 9 am - 5 pm and Saturday, January 26 from 9 am - 4 pm at the Savannah Center.

Parking - Past attendees said parking is very limited around the center.  Getting dropped off, carpooling and driving golf carts were recommended.   A shuttle bus from Saddlebrook is available on Friday.

Viewers' Choice - Kathi Hronchek said we have enough volunteers to work the viewer's choice voting.  The volunteers were reminded of their commitment.

Silent Auction - Kathi turned in our ice cream cone quilt and boxer shorts quilt for the auction.

Boutique  -- Nancy Rockwell showed the beautiful contributions our members made for the boutique.  We completed 22 pillowcases, a tool caddy, several itsy bitsy wallets and 27 tissue holders.   Nancy solicited pricing suggestions that she will use in tagging the items.

Quilt Entries -- Judy Ozbun reported that 220 quilts were critiqued.  Entrants are asked to keep the muslin number tag on their quilt until the show is over.  Entries can be picked up after 5:30 pm on Saturday.

Treasurer's Report - A report will be given at the February business meeting.

All-Day Quilt Day - Kathi reserved our meeting room for Saturday, March 16.

President's Report
Guild Budget -- The Guild's budget is a little over $25,000.

Charity Quilts -- Shirley Larsen turned in our count of charity quilts for 2012 at end of year.  She was asked to send a copy to the Guild's president.

February Guild Meeting -- No snacks will be served at this meeting because the winning Showcase quilts will be exhibited.

Officers Needed -- The Guild has approved our request to have officers serve less than two-year terms.

Judy will serve as president for the first four months of 2013 and Kathi will serve the second four months.  A volunteer president is needed to serve from September through December 2013.

Sharon Symanovich will serve as secretary January through April, July and October.  A volunteer secretary is needed for May, June, August, September, November and December 2013.

Cruise -- The Guild is proposing a cruise for this upcoming fall.  A half-dozen members are interested in this event.

Agenda -- Judy outlined her plans for the club's agenda this year:
1st week of the month:  Have an open discussion of anything quilt-related and work on our own projects.  Next week we will tell how we got started in quilting.

2nd week of the month:  Work on group projects, the block of month and charity quilts.

3rd week of the month:  Celebrate members' birthdays that month with a fat quarter gift.  Jo volunteered to buy a half dozen fat quarters to get started.  Also planned is a fabric swap.  Everyone should bring a half-yard of the selected color.  Yankee swap will be played to redistribute the fabrics.   RED is the color selected for February.

4th week of the month:  Business meeting and personal projects.

5th week of the month - Come to the next meeting with ideas for the 5th week project.  Judy suggested a raffle quilt for our club only.  Everyone would bring fabric and work on blocks.  The raffle winner would get the remaining fabric and the quilt top in progress.

Show and Tell - Sharon showed her king-size "Patriots in Petticoats" quilt she made in memory of her 7th great grandmother who served in the Revolutionary War.
