PATCHWORK GARDEN CHAPTER NEWS:  FEBRUARY 25, 2013
President Judy Ozbun called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Secretary's Report  -- The minutes of the January 21 meeting were approved.

Program Announcements   -- Ruth Chary informed the group of the Guild's March programs:
March 5 Guild Meeting  -- Kay Smith of Country Road Quilters in Ocala will show her Seminole style piecework and talk about its history.  Also, Beth Landas of the Friendship Star Chapter will present a trunk show and talk about wall hangings, showing a variety of techniques.
Workshops -- March 6, "Seminole Style Patchwork," Kay Smith, Savannah Center.
March 20, "Reverse Circle Applique," Beth Landas, 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  "UFO Bee Buster," Micki MacCumbee, 2:30 p.m. - 4:20 p.m., SeaBreeze Center.

Ruth is our contact person to sign up for any class or workshop.  She encouraged members to visit the Quilting Guild of the Villages website at http://www.qgotv.org for more information.  Information is also posted on the Club's bulletin board.

Treasurer's Report -- Sally Rowe gave a full report of Patchwork Garden's budget.  There are 34 members in our Chapter.  Judy Ozbun asked Sally to prepare a membership list to distribute.

Webmaster's Report-- Jo De Candia reported that the Guild Website Committee has set formatting rules for placing information on its site.  The rules will be sent to members.  Members were informed that the Guild is on Facebook.  Jo asked when Patchwork Garden started and it was determined the Chapter began in Fall 2005.

President's Report from the Board Meeting
Marketplace 2014  -- The dates for next year's vendors' showcase are January 24 and 25.

Showcase of Quilts  -- Budget figures for this year's show are not yet available.

Guild Cruise -- A cruise is planned for the 2nd week in March 2014.  Maria Anderson and Mary Engle will teach classes.

Dues Exemption  -- The Board approved dues exemption for members 80 years of age and over.

New Business
All-Day Retreat - Saturday, March 16 -- The members discussed ideas for projects. Members may work on a Mondo bag or any other project.  Mondo bag instructions were discussed and Judy asked that a supply list be prepared.  Donation quilt supplies will be available. The AccuCutter will be available.  Please bring your lunch. 

Shop Hop  -- Shop Hop Committee members are Pat Bruce, Carol Browning and Arlene Reed.  Ideas were requested for shops in the area.  It was mentioned that the Guild website has a listing of local quilt shops that participated in the Showcase.

March 4 Meeting  -- Judy asked Jo De Candia, Arlene Reed and Nancy Rockwell to give a five-minute talk on how they became involved in quilting, 

3rd Monday Fabric Swap  -- Bring a half-yard of the chosen color and Yankee swap will be played to redistribute the fabrics.  The following colors have been selected: 
March 18 - Pastel
April   15 - Green
May 20 - Blue

Charity Quilts  -- Kathi Hronchek announced that a Healthy Start representative is coming next week to pick up the baby quilts our members made. 

Today's Guests  -- A warm welcome was extended to two visitors.
