PATCHWORK GARDEN CHAPTER NEWS: AUGUST 26, 2013
President Kathi Hronchek called the meeting to order at 6:30 pm. Kathi announced that Penny Gibson will take over as President for the month of September, and that Kathy Howe would then be President for the winter months when she arrives in October.
Secretary’s Report – No corrections noted for the July report. It will be submitted to website for posting under PG's heading.
Treasurer's Report - Sally noted that there are now 41 members on the roster.
Chapter Web Coordinator Report: Jo reported that updated calendar was sent out and pictures posed on web along with minutes.
President's Report - Kathi said that guild meeting for Sept. is themed back to school, collecting school supplies for Stanton Wiersdale School, guild's in-house teachers to present demos 6-7, and at 7 each chapter is to present a demo night project. Every chapter to receive copy of the complete group of demos offered for use in their chapters. Kathi said that PG chapter has not participated in any of the long-range planning committee's meeting so far and mostly due to schedules. Sept. 20th membership chairs will be focus group of the LRP Committee's meeting. There will be 40 10-year pins handed out at Guild's December meeting. 14 seats were still available on the Chatham Chapter bus going to Jacksonsville Show. Theme for Showcase 2015 is Quilting in Paradise. Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co. will speak at Savannah Center on Thursday, November 14th, cost is $5 to guild members. Oct. 2 is Mystery Quilt 6-hr class. Kathi again expressed appreciation for chapter members support and sign up for chapter committee positions which Shirley Larsen coordinated. Kathi suggested best time for chapter committees to meet would be prior to a weekly chapter meeting or monthly business meeting.
Guild Program Coordinator Report: Ruth updated members on classes offered by in-house teachers and that to sign up for these members need to contact the in-house teacher directly to pay $10 class fee. There are new classes added and the website will have full listing of those updates. Ruth said to check website for the upcoming classes still open for visiting artists like the Mystery Quilt in October that still have openings for the workshop.

Arlene asked about chapter funds to purchase a rotary blade sharpener. After brief discussion, Arlene made motion to use funds for the purchase, Micki seconded the motion, and motion was unanimously carried.
Show & Tell: Arlene shared her Round Robin quilt top with everyone.
Kathi reminded members that even though next Monday would be Labor Day, the rec center is still open and our room available for chapter meeting.
