PATCHWORK GARDEN CHAPTER NEWS:  SEPTEMBER 23, 2013
Penny opened the meeting up at 6:30.  First business of the evening was the Program meeting. The guild is saying that not enough members are signing up for our outside instructors.  Our inhouse instructors are full.  They are trying to understand how to do a better job in getting more members to sign up for the outside instructors.  One idea was to do much better advertising for the outside instructors.

Basket for Market Place-We pick two themes for the basket being auction off for the charity ALS. One theme was Night on Town the other was Garden Basket.  This is due December 15. We have a committee for the basket they are Chris Phillips, Kathie Hronchek, Norma Swartz, Sally Rowe, Paula Rentz, and Carol Browning.

We discussed what Charities are needed for the Showcase 2015.  We suggested Wildwood Soup Kitchen and Free Clinic of Leesburg.

Nominating Committee met to choose for next year guild a President and Treasurer.  The Treasurer -someone was interested in and was taken off the table.  President still needs to be decided for 2 years.

Sally gave balance in treasury and there are now 42 members.

Joy from the guild is redoing the guild and chapter information in the rec news.  On the third Tuesday of the month we will send her information on openings on our chapter.  They are trying to cut down the information each chapter is inputting into the rec news.

Our committees where discussed and explained what they were each going to do. Saturday Workshop will be November 9 and there will be prizes and a lunch afterwards.  Chinese Auction will be December 9 with 50/50.

Christmas Party will be December 16 and the budget was for 150.00. Also bring in a gift no more than 10.00 which will be related to a sewing/quilting theme only. Floral Challenge will also be brought into our party in a plain bag and we will have to guess who made that floral challenge quilt.

Programs committee had some wonderful ideas.  Judy Ozbun is doing an applique class on September 30. Those who are interested please sign up. Other ideas were pet screen bag, travel case for ipod or small cutting board, Prairie points and scallop borders lessons, rope basket, working with free motion, guest trunk show and mystery quilts.  Also a fun night with tips and tricks and demo days.

Shop Hop committee mention about going to Suwannee Valley Quilt shop in Trenton, Fl. This is near Gainesville.

Half yard swap has been canceled due to lack of interest. Birthday fat quarter has a new supply and a 100.00 a year budget.  Also was suggested if your birthday is the month of the fat quarter and you can't be at the meeting that the last Monday of that month should be recognized for those members who were not there for their birthdays.

Charity Quilts Kathie Hronchek was to call Healthy Start to see if they need any more baby quilts.

Fat Quarter drawing budget is 100.00 a year.  Other items for drawing will be sewing items and a goody box.

Block of the month is completed and we had so many that finished their blocks and showed the finish quilts. Hopefully we can get more to show their quilts.

Electric sharper for rotary blades was brought in by Arlene Reed.  Committees that haven't met yet  need to tell us about their ideas - Membership, and 50/50.
