President Penny Gibson called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
Secretary's Report -- The minutes of the September 23rd meeting were approved with one change.
Treasurer's Report -- Patchwork Garden's budget balance is $397. Treasurer Sally Rowe stated that an increase in dues is needed for 2014. Members voted to increase next year's annual dues from $10 to $15. Five dollars will go to the Guild and $10 will go to our chapter budget. Members may now begin to pay their 2014 dues to Sally.

Guild Program Announcements
--November 5th Guild Meeting -- "Art is About Color," lecture and trunk show by Juanita Yeager.
--December 3rd Guild Meeting - Holiday Party with a presentation by Teddy Pruett, "Other People's Fleas." Patchwork Garden is charged with providing tablecloths and centerpieces for the party. Members gave suggestions for the centerpiece design. Ruth will inquire about the number of tables.
Guild Workshops, Classes and Bees
--November 3, Super Sunday, "Bargello Hearts," Esther Meinhardt.
--November 5, "Great Finishes," Juanita Yeager.
--November 6, "Flowers in the Round," Juanita Yeager.
--November 14 and 23, Workshops by Jenny Doan of the Missouri Star Quilt Company are now full.

--December 18, "UFO Buster," Suzanne Brown.

Patchwork Garden Events
A big thanks to our very own Carol Browning and Guild vice president Ruth Mazurski who skillfully led our Monday, October 21st workshop, "Pet Screening Totes." Everyone was so pleased with her beautiful creation. Carol passed around a thank-you card that she will give to Ruth. Business cards were available for Beasley's, the shop where the pet screening was purchased.

Monday Activities and Saturday Retreats
--November 4, Prepare for the upcoming wreath project workshop or work on your own project. Bring your cutting supplies, pattern and fabric. If you have one, bring a light box for tracing the wreath design.
--November 9, Saturday morning retreat, 9 am - 12:20 pm. Lunch afterward will be at Palmer's. Members may work on their wreath projects or bring their own project. A sign up sheet to attend this event and/or the lunch was passed.
--December 9, Silent Auction and 50/50. Nancy Rockwell said members may begin to bring in their auction contribution.
--December 16, Christmas Party. Bring your summer floral project for the Big Reveal and a $10 quilt-related gift for the exchange.
--2014 Saturday morning workshops will be held on March 8 and June 14.
Charity Project Suggestions
Penny informed the club of a potential charity projects. Please review the Conkerr Cancer Pillowcase Challenge at http://www.conkerrcancer.org/home/ and consider this idea for a charity project in February. Cornerstone is asking for contributions of angel quilts with a patriotic theme.
Membership Committee
The Sally Rowe reported that the membership committee is beginning preparation of an orientation booklet for new members.
Sharon Symanovich will begin preparing a members' Emergency Contact list. The list will be kept with the attendance sheet clipboard and should be taken on group trips. Please watch for an e-mail requesting your information for the Emergency Contact list.
Nominating Committee Report
Judy Osbun reported:
--President. Kathy Howe will take over presidency from Penny Gibson in November.
--Vice President. A vice president was needed and Chris Phillips volunteered to serve. Thanks, Chris! The VP's job is to substitute during the president's absence by attending the monthly Guild meeting and reporting news back to our Chapter.
--Secretary back up. A member is needed to take minutes of our monthly business meeting during Sharon Symanovich's absence. A back up is needed for June-September and November-December.
Birthday Fat-Quarter Committee
Delaine Koonce asked for the chapter's input on birthday fat-quarter celebrations. Members voted that a member needs to be present for a meeting during her birthday month to participate in the fat quarter selection.
MarketPlace 2014
Less than three months to go! MarketPlace 2014 will be held on January 24 and 25, 9 am-5 pm at the Wildwood Community Center on Powell Road. Admission will be $2 for Guild members and free for those volunteering to work at the show.
Patchwork Garden's committee charged with preparing our basket contribution for the MarketPlace reported it is nearing completion. Chris Phillips said that quilt-related contributions are still welcome.
Showcase 2015
Members voted on the charity options for Showcase 2015. First choice is the Wildwood Soup Kitchen and second choice is the Wildwood Food Pantry.
Membership
The Guild has 874 members. Patchwork Garden has 42 members.
