The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held June 4, 2013 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held at Laurel Manor Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order by President Alice Nicholas at 7:04 p.m.

Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Secretary's Report was accepted as corrected. Juanita Yeager has been booked for November 2014.

President Nicholas welcomed all members and visitors to the meeting. Over $200 was raised at Pat Knoechel's demonstration and trunk show. A check for $102 was mailed to the St Vincent De Paul Society and Alice received a thank you letter for the donation. Several announcements were made:
    Pick up a card at the back to enter quilts in the Modern Quilt Challenge.
    There is a new quilt shop in Ocala: Yards N Yarn at 103, 1913 NE 14th Street (Ocala, FL 34470).  Store is small but has very nice batiks. Phone number is 352-351-6110. Website:  http://yardsnyarn.com/
    Alice Nicolas sent out emails requesting quilts for the victims of the tornados in Oklahoma. Sheddy Reese of Seabreeze Chapter organized the donation of 21 quilts. Alice thanked all who donated quilts for this worthy cause.
    Ann Boudrot announced that the Lake Miona Chapter is sponsoring a 5 day/4 night bus trip to Paducah next April. A $250 refundable deposit is needed by June 11th. Please contact Ann for more information (Email:  aboudrot@comcast.net).

Ruth Mazurski gave an update on the programs for the next few Guild meetings. July's meeting will be a Sit-N-Sew of hand pieced patriotic blocks, drawings will be made for these blocks. Please bring thread, needle and small scissors. Jo Loder of Allamanda Chapter showed a quilt she had made using the patriotic blocks. Ruth also reminded members to check the QGOTV.org website for a calendar of upcoming in-house teacher projects.

The Fabric Art Shop in Lake City has moved to a bigger and brighter store. New address is 4136West US Highway 90, Lake City FL, 32055. (fabricartshop.com)

Linda Wade was June's guest speaker. She talked about the history and versatility of using treadle sewing machines and showed many beautiful quilts. Linda also displayed some of her collection of antique sewing machines to include a hand-cranked sewing machine with a buttonhole attachment and a treadle machine. All were in working condition.

There were eight Show and Tell participants, five name-tag winners, and four 50/50 winners.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:20p.m.
