Quilting Guild of The Villages February 18, 2014 Executive Board Meeting

The Executive Board of the Quilting Guild of The Villages met February 18th at Saddlebrook Recreation Center.  The meeting was called to order at 3:05 pm by President Beth Bender.

President Bender welcomed all to the meeting. Carol Van Noy and Jennifer Lasichak from the newest chapter, Khaki Quilters were present.  Roll call was held.

The Secretary's report was accepted as published. Teresa Hatfield gave the Treasurer's report.

    MOTION: The Treasurer should present a report at the monthly Guild Meeting. Motion was defeated.

    MOTION: The Treasurer should send a detailed monthly report dated from the first of the previous month to the last day of the previous month to Chapter Presidents for distribution. Motion was approved.

Webmaster Marilyn Paluszak announced that she will be presenting a talk about www.QGOTV.org at Bradenton on March 25th at 2:30 p.m. Members from Maimie's Quilters and Khaki Quilters who wish to attend are to RSVP Marilyn at Webmaster@QGOTV.org.
The Long Range Planning Committee meets on the first and third Friday of every month at the Hibiscus Recreation Center from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. The committee will be creating the Facilities Management Subcommittee as this is becoming a big issue for Guild presenters and teachers.

Joy Lynch reported that Membership is now 901 members.
Ann Moroz reported on MarketPlace 2014. Net profit was over $11,000 with $2100 being presented to ALS. Some members questioned using the Wildwood Community Center for MarketPlace 2014.  Ann reported that there is a $10,000 rental difference between the Savannah Center where the MarketPlace was previously held and the Wildwood facility. Ann was asked to publish a list of the basket winners.

The By-Laws and Standing Rules Review committee will meet again in March.

The Treasurer, Teresa Hatfield, has purchased Quick Books.  She is checking with the accountant to see how many gigabytes are needed to run Quick Books before she buys the laptop.
President Beth Bender brought up who is to benefit from the Silent Auction proceeds at the 2015 Showcase.

MOTION: Money from the Silent Auction at Showcase 2015 will be allocated for Facility Management. Motion was approved.

New Business: Membership rosters may be shared among the chapters. This is a reminder that any member who uses the roster for solicitation will be automatically dismissed from the Guild.
The concept of a Virtual Chapter was discussed. It was decided that this was a topic for the LRP committee. Marilyn welcomes members' comments and/or suggestions on this topic.

The ConKerr Cancer Pillowcase Challenge was discussed. It was suggested that boxes be used to handle the pillowcases. Several select guild members will be contacted about the logistics of picking up the cases.  Beth reminded the board that pillowcases are to be handed in at the March Guild meeting. The winning chapter will be awarded a roll of batting plus cake supplied by TooJays Gourmet Deli. The "Daily Sun" will be invited to witness the donations on March 4th. 


Chris Phillips(Patchwork Garden Member-at-Large) displayed an Angel Quilt. Several Chapter presidents stated that they are willing to provide quilts for Cornerstone. Chris noted that butterfly quilts were also welcomed and that the dimensions required would be put on www.QGOTV.org.

Teresa reminded the Executive Board that chapter treasurers will be meeting March 12 at Laurel Manor from 2:00 to 4:00 pm to prepare the 2014 budget.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:10 pm.
