Quilting Guild of The Villages March 18, 2014 Executive Board Meeting
The Executive Board of the Quilting Guild of The Villages met March 18th at Saddlebrook Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order at 3:00 pm by President Beth Bender.
President Bender welcomed all to the meeting. Each chapter received a copy of the proposed budget and a copy of Chapter counts for the ConKerr Cancer Pillowcase Challenge. Roll call was held.
The Secretary's report was accepted as published. The Treasurer's report was emailed to all participants.
Sharon Musch reported that the Showcase committee had two items of interest: the possibility of using a credit card machine at the Showcase and the possibility of buying a microphone system. Sharon will investigate the credit card machine issue as one of the Executive Board members thought that the Community Bank rented the machines. The microphone issue will not be pursued as each Recreation Center is obligated to supply a microphone system.
Vice President Ruth Mazurski gave the Program Report. Today's garage sale was a success and that it will be held again in the third week of March 2015. April's guest speaker is Cathy Miller, the Singing Quilter, Carol Henry will be May's speaker and Linda Hungerford will be June's speaker. Ruth reported that she will be sending out a list of Program Committee members' duties. Each chapter president is to ensure that the person they have selected is capable of these duties as Ruth relies on each member to participate fully on the committee.
Webmaster Marilyn Paluszak reported that the QGOTV website is up to date. She announced that Joy Lynch is now the Long Range Planning Committee Chair.
Joy Lynch invited any interested members who wish to serve on the Long Range Planning Committee to contact her. Membership now stands at 929 members. Joy will be emailing New Chapter guidelines to all chapter presidents.
Beth Bender reported that the By-Laws and Standing Rules Committee has gone thru all the By-Laws and will probably finish the Standing Rules in April. Beth reminded the Board that all chapters will be asked to review the report when it is presented.
Beth reported that the Treasurer has purchased a computer that is compatible with Quick Books.
The Board erroneously voted on a Motion at the February Board Meeting to allocate funds from the Silent Auction to Facility Management. This motion should have been presented to the membership.
MOTION: Rescind the Motion to allocate funds from the Silent Auction to Facility Management. Motion was passed.
Beth Bender will reword the motion and email it to all presidents who will present it to their members. Presidents are to record votes and present at the April Board meeting.
MOTION: Table the proposed budget to the April Board meeting. Motion was passed.
The Media Guidelines created by Patt Reed were presented. It was suggested that several Board members meet with The Daily Sun Editor to discuss publicity as the publicity to date has been inadequate.
The Piecemakers chapter asked if it was possible to have a memorial page on the QGOTV webpage. Marilyn responded that there would be one when she received the information.
Beth Bender noted that the talks given to the chapters about the QGOTV webpage by Marilyn Paluszak and the Program Committee by Ruth Mazurski were well received and wondered if she should do the same for the Guild. The board agreed. Chapter presidents are to contact Beth to schedule the talk.
Wanda Marsh from Piecemakers Quilters presented two patriotic quilts to Chris Phillips for Cornerstone Hospice.
Beth Bender will remind Ann Moroz to publish the list of MarketPlace Basket winners.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:20 pm.
Respectively submitted
