The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Vilalges was held Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center
The Meeting was called to order by President Beth Bender at 7:00 p.m.
President Bender welcomed the members and all recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.
The Treasurer's report is on file.
Ann Moroz reported that MarketPlace was on track to be held at the Wildwood Community Center on January 24th and 25th. There will be a Notion Commotion drawing; the vendors have contributed a total of 27 notions and there will be a drawing for the winner.
Mary Anne Pankowski of Mulberry Quilters announced that their Christmas tree at the Waterfront Inn raised $400 and placed third in the popular vote.
Sharon Musch reported that Challenge Quilt packets were available for sale for $5. She asked for Showcase 2017 Shadow volunteers. Each chapter is encouraged to send one member to participate in the Quilt judging which will be held on January 8th and 9th 2015.
President Bender reported that a member had an allergic reaction to basting spray and this will be discussed at the January Executive Board meeting. It is recommended that members do not use the spray at Guild meetings or sew-ins.
Sunset Pointe Chapter shared the beautiful quilt that they made for the Showcase 2015 chance drawing. Members will be able to buy tickets for this quilt at MarketPlace 2014.
Ruth Mazurski reported on the guest speakers for February, March, and April. Marty Moon will give two lectures at the Sterling Heights Recreation Center on January 26th. Cost will be $5 for each lecture. Ruth also announced that Teddy Pruitt will return for the Christmas Party in December. There will be no show and tell at the next Christmas party in order to shorten the meeting.
The guest speaker was Grannie Suzannie who gave a trunk show of her beautiful quilts. Her special interests are blocks made from border fabrics, Celtic designs and miniature paper pieced quilts.
There were twenty seven show-and-tell participants, five name-tag winners and nine 50/50 winners. Many of the show and tell participants demonstrated items they had made during Grannie Suzannie's workshops.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
