The regular meeting of the Quilting Guild of The Villages was held April 1, 2014 at Laurel Manor Recreation Center.

The Meeting was called to order by President Beth Bender at 7:00 p.m. 150 members were present.

All members recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Secretary's Report was accepted as read.

The Treasurer's report will not be read but will be e-mailed to all chapter presidents to share with their members.

Old Business:
    The motion to use the proceeds from Silent Auction for Facility Management was rescinded. It will be reworded and presented to the chapters for a vote as soon as some revenue information is gathered.
    Budget meeting was held; the proposed budget was tabled waiting for further information.
    The Guild donated a total of 2690 pillowcases to ConKerr Cancer.  Thank-you notes to each chapter are available at the back of the room. Each chapter president is to pick up their note at the end of the meeting.
    Membership as of March 18th, 2014 was 929 members.
    Today is the third birthday of the QGOTV Website. "Happy Birthday" was sung to the website.
    The By-Laws Review Committee will meet April 3; members with suggestions are to contact Beth.

New Business:
    The Piecemakers Chapter is working with Marilyn to establish a memorial page on the Website.
    Pat Reed has created a Media Guidelines document which has been sent to each Chapter President.
    President Beth Bender will be visiting each chapter in the next few months to talk about the Guild.
    Carol Bajus from Mulberry Chapter invited members to make pillowcase dresses which will be donated to the Battered Woman's Shelter in Leesburg. Interested members were asked to pick up the pattern at the back of the room.
    President Beth Bender announced the winners of the Garage Sale gift cards from Jo-Ann's Fabric and Simply Sew Boutique. They are Madeline Hayes, Karin Estep, Jill Smithson and Barbe Brolley.
    Pat Knoechel from the Quilt in a Day Company will be giving a demonstration and trunk show on April 15th from 1 to 3 P.M. at the Laurel Manor Recreation Center. The $1 admission fee will be donated to Operation Shoebox.

Jill Smithson introduced Kathy Miller, the Singing Quilter, and her husband John Bunge. Kathy and John sang several songs about quilts and quilting and demonstrated Kathy's beautiful quilts. One of Kathy's passions is piecing hexagons and she showed one quilt that was constructed using over 3000 quarter inch hexagons!

There were seventeen show-and-tell participants, seven name-tag winners and ten 50/50 winners.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
