PATCHWORK GARDEN EVENING QUILTERS CHAPTER NEWS:  FEBRUARY 24, 2014

President Kathy Howe called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.

Forms Due -- Members must return their Guild Enrollment Form.  Members must complete The Villages Waiver Form each year.

Treasurer's Report -- Sally Rowe gave the financial report.

Secretary's Report -- The minutes of the January 27, 2014 business meeting were approved.

Guild Meeting -- Patchwork Garden is hosting the March meeting.   Ten members volunteered to help.

Show and Tell  -- Sally Rowe and Louise Redding presented their show and tell this evening.  Eloise Noble was the winner of the monthly show-and-tell drawing

Happy Birthday! --These February babes chose their birthday fat quarters:  Louise Redding and Kathleen Harris.

Donation Quilts -- Kathy Howe reported that 25 quilts, all to Healthy Start, have been donated so far this year.  The scrappy diamond quilt with the white background sewed at last week's meeting will be donated to Operation Shoebox.  Patchwork Gardeners made 101 pillowcases for ConKerr Cancer and they will be turned in at the March Guild meeting.  Penny Gibson suggested that donations be recorded in the minutes.  Kathy Hronchek tracks our chapter's donations. 

Showcase 2015 -Judy Ozbun announced that the Showcase will be held January 23, 9-5 pm and January 24, 9-4 pm, at the Savannah Center.  October 1, 2014 is the show entry deadline.  Judy will verify the Guild's request that each Chapter provide one quilt item for every 10 members.  The Silent Auction funds will be earmarked for a building purchase. 

Showcase 2015 Boutique -One member from each Chapter needs to work at the Boutique.  Patchwork Garden voted to make postcards and earrings for the Boutique.

Tips -- Miss Carol's is an alterations and small craft items shop in Wildwood near the post office. 
Hobby Lobby has post card rubber stamps.
Joann Fabrics has online coupons that can be used daily.

Patchwork Garden Events -- Get ready for these exciting events:
Monday Activities and Saturday Retreats
--March 3, "Trapunto Pillow," Kathy Howe.  Bring your machine, pins and scissors. Practice fabric will be provided.
--March 8, 8 am -1 pm, Saturday morning workshop, "Card Trick Quilt," for the Silent Auction, Shirley Larsen.  Bring your machine.  There will be other projects and demos or sew your own project.  Sign up for the workshop and/or lunch.
--March 10, "Yellow Brick Road," Chris Phillips.  Bring your machine. 
--March 17, "Donation Quilts."  Bring your machine. 
--March 24, Business Meeting and Birthday Quarters.
--March 31, "Chinese Auction."  Bring in any items you don't want (quilt related or not) and a little money for a fun-filled evening.  Show and tell drawing.

February Guild Meeting Report
The Guild is seeking suggestions for an alternative venue for the MarketPlace 2016. 
The Guild has 901 members. 
The treasurer's report was passed around.
Membership rosters may be shared among the chapters.  Kathy will not share our roster.
The Guild is considering a virtual chapter.
The Challenge fabric will be available at the March Guild meeting.
Chris Phillips displayed an Angel Quilt at the meeting.
