Retreat -- Shirley Larsen shirleyL123@comcast.net talked about the retreat that is in the planning stages at Inverness Golf Resort in Palm Harbor on November 10-12 OR 12-14. There are two great quilt shops are in the area: Happy Apple Quilts and Rainbow's End Quilt Shop. For more details, refer to Shirley's email to members dated June 29, 2014. Please email Shirley if you want to be added to the interested list and indicate your preferred date.
Guild News -- Jo DeCandia reported:
Membership -- The Guild has 958 members.
Rules -- The updated by-laws will be presented for a vote at the August Guild meeting. Standing Rules will be addressed after the by-law revision process is complete.
Service Opportunities -- The Executive Board is seeking candidates for second vice president to be considered at the August board meeting. The Guild is in need of a historian. The long-range planning committee is looking for members to participate in a communications meeting to be held on August 1.
Guild Meeting Time Change -- Beginning in September, whenever a month contains five Tuesdays, the Guild meeting that month will be a first Tuesday morning meeting. Therefore, the Guild meeting on Tuesday, September 2, will be held at the Savannah Center with the doors opening at 9:00 AM.
Showcase 2015 - October 1 is the deadline to submit entries for the quilt show. Members must meet the attendance requirements to participate. The Showcase will be held January 23, 9-5 pm and January 24, 9-4 pm, at the Savannah Center.
Guild Meetings, Workshops, Classes and Bees -- Members may visit the Quilting Guild of the Villages website at http://www.qgotv.org for complete information on Guild meetings and classes. Jo DeCandia also posts this information on the Chapter's bulletin board and sends it to members by e-mail.
Ruth Campbell is our contact person to sign up for Guild-sponsored workshops or members may sign up at the monthly Guild meetings. To register for a class, contact the in-house instructor. Here is a brief summary of August's activities and upcoming Guild meetings:
