Quilting Guild of The Villages August 20, 2013 Executive Board Meeting
The Executive Board of the Quilting Guild of The Villages met August 20th at Saddlebrook Recreation Center. The meeting was called to order at 3:06 p.m. by President Alice Nicholas.
After roll call, Lucie Verbois gave the Treasurer's Report.
Ruth Mazurski gave the program Committee Report. She announced the upcoming programs and classes:
September "Back to School Night" will be held by the In-House teachers at 6:00 p.m. in the Washington Room prior to the Guild Meeting. The Guild Meeting that night will include a round-robin of demos from many of the Chapters. Ruth handed out a list of the demonstrators and their topics. Members are asked to bring school supplies for local children. Each Chapter President will be given a booklet with instructions for the demos.
October 2 Meeting will be a mystery quilt.
Juanita Yeager is booked for the November meeting and two workshops: Flowers in the Round and Great Finishes. Jenny Doan from the Missouri Star Quilt Company is booked for November 14th at the Savannah Center in the morning for a lecture, cost will be $5-$10 and in the afternoon at Laurel Manor for a class, cost will be around $20.
December's Meeting is the Christmas Party with speaker Teddy Pruitt.
Marilyn Paluszak reported that the QGOTV website was current. She also reported that the Long-Range Planning Committee will be meeting with Chapter Membership Chairs on Friday, September 20th and the Executive Board Members on Friday, October 18th. E-mails will be sent out.
Joy Lynch reported that membership was now at 835 members. She has about 100 10-year pins and asked the Board for direction. The older 10 year pins will be given out this year and she was authorized to order 1000 new 10-year pins which will be given out in subsequent years.
Chatham Chapter's bus trip to the Jacksonville show still has some vacant seats … Call Alice at 751-4745 to sign up for this trip … Thursday, September 26th / $34 includes admission.
Showcase 2015 will be having its first meeting prior to the Oct 1 Guild meeting. It will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Washington/Jefferson room and each chapter is required to send a representative. The theme for Showcase 2015 will be "Quilting in Paradise." Showcase 2015 is also looking for Shadows for the next showcase; if you are interested in shadowing the 2015 Showcase and helping out at the 2017 Showcase, this job is for you!!
The Quilting at Sea Caribbean cruise was cancelled due to lack of interest.
There has been no updates on the new quilting chapters.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:55 pm.
